And any physician who said such a thing is clearly not a good representative of the profession.

I have a hard time believing any MD said such an ignorant thing.

Re: How many Doctors do you have?

I treat with a homeopath on a regular basis and I have a primary care doctor for my annual physical and bloodwork.

Re: How many Doctors do you have?

Currently my family practice physician only. He does write all my Rx and he does co ordinate all my care. That's why I like him - he actually does his job. I see the nail tech at my podiatrist but not the doctor.

OOPS - you also wanted to count dentist and eye doctor. I see them too but not often.

Re: How many Doctors do you have?

I have a primary that I go to for simple things but for each issue I have a MD in that specialty.

I am thankful for the insurance that allows and covers that as well as the MD's who specialize in everything. My husband has numerous for each specialty and very thankful.

I agree with Irishgirl on the Pain Mgmt MD for chronic pain and medications.

There are so many restrictions and laws that where we live no primary is going to prescribe narcotics every month..they refer you to a Pain Mgmt Clinic where contracts and things are in place to protect everybody..they are also required to complete forms and report to the state the justification of prescribing for chronic pain medications when they should be referred to specialist. I know several people who have had this issue. Pain Mgmt MD's are also licensed to prescribe the quantity that is needed in a monthly supply.

Hi SR Smile

We're having warm weather this weekend, with weather people forecasting Fall shortly after. Yay! I'm working on getting a good start on the coming season/holidays so I don't freak out when there are merely days left, lol.

I'm pretty good, I hope you are, also. {#emotions_dlg.wub}

You are smart getting ahead on the upcoming season. I am the same way, it seems to creep up on us and I don't know where the time has gone. This year I have vowed to myself that I will shop early.

I am glad to hear that the weather is going to improve. I am very familiar with your health concern and know how difficult it can be when it is hot out. Take care of yourself.Smile

Re: How many Doctors do you have?

Anyone who has only 1-2 doctors on a consistent basis is lucky. They send people to specialists for a reason - the specialist knows far more about his or her specialty than a general practitioner ever will. I would not want to receive suboptimal care just because I didn't want to go to anyone but my GP, or didn't want one more doctor. Today, most GPs other than those in small towns and rural areas refer to specialists immediately because they can't spend the clock-time with a patient who has a condition that needs to be managed beyond general care. Sometimes that annoys me, but it is what it is.
