It wasn't a big deal for me. I was a little bummed, but nothing major.

I remember my sister cried the whole day. *eyeroll*

Mel, why did your sister cry?

Re: How did you Approach the big 3-0?

My 30th birthday (ten and a half years ago) was great for me. I remember working that day. I felt like I was the new 20!

But this past September when I turned 40, I did NOT feel like the new 30. Suddenly, my vision started to impair and I have all kinds of body aches that I've never had before.... and my hair is thinning so I have to keep it cut short.

I approached it as an inevitability. Time marches on. You live your life as best you can. Each person contributes in his/her own individual way to society, whether they are movers and shakers, and reformers, or supportive citizens in that society raising kids, paying taxes, upholding the laws of the land, etc.

I took 30, 40 and 50 with no issues. I never understood how if affects some people but we are all different. Just take in stride and enjoy the ride. Happy Birthday.

Re: How did you Approach the big 3-0?

All I can say from my own experience is that when I hit oh, about 42...I realized that I had finally "grown up" and come into my own. There was a sense of peace and accomplishment. I left all the insecurity and krap of my 20's and 30's behind. If I had a choice of being the accomplished 45 year old or a 25 year old with better looks, there would be no question as to where I'd rather be...the 45 year old. My friends overwhelmingly share this sentiment and I hope it is encouraging to you.

Re: How did you Approach the big 3-0?

So-called milestone ages have never affected me this way, so far anyway. Why should they? Are you not the same person you were the day before at 29, or 39, etc? Imo, if you are feeling melancholy, like you "should have accomplished more," then get out there and make it happen! I mean, what's the alternative? Smiley Wink
