@Kachina624 wrote:We've had far more frequent disasters with products made in America than those imported from China. Look at the almost daily recalls of manufactured products, produce and meat. How many do you recall from China?
I think people need to quit contributing to panic and hysteria by talking about such things.
I get the recall notices from the FTC. Most products subject to recall are made in China.

Their motive is health care, not votes or worry about stock market losses. I personally, along with others, do not like the fact that scientists must get permission from a political figure to speak. It has never been this way and should cease.
I totaly agree 100%
Not just pointed at the above posts or this situation, but scientists are often very tuned in to and aware of current popular thinking and political issues. It is easier for them to get funding (BIG bucks) if it is supportive of current popular thinking.
And yes, I have seen this first hand.

Another case is being reported in CA. I don't feel I'm hysterical but informed. I listen to MSM, and they feature medical information. Of one thing I'm very sure, nobody can predict this and the medical field wants to be prepared. I have a nephew living in Spain and haven't heard anything about Spain yet.
As others have said, pay attention to medical professionals who deal with this.

So my post wasn't about 'hysteria'. My post is simply asking questions.
Just because something is questioned does not mean he or she is pulling the fire alarm or screaming "fire"!
Several here have said, "we did it to ourselves" and I totally agree.
Our leaders pose so many taxes on businesses, it has been cheaper to just move their companies to other countries and import them here.
As with every single thing....it's all about the bottom line.
Everyone wants things cheap. Well, people expect to get paid more when they work in this country....understandable.
But the American public will/would have to understand they must be willing to pay more for something.
We've gotten so used to the old 'use it and trash it and get new' that our consumption is unbelievable!
It's kinda like a dog chasing his tail...running in circles.
Until we are willing to pay a little more for products and have them produced in this country, nothing is going to change.
So, to reiterate, I certainly wasn't pulling the fire alarm. I think the American public needs to make changes in our lives. Maybe being happier with a little less and living more within our means.
That was a phrase my Grandma used to say. She'd say, "You need to learn to live within your means".
I'm sure many of you feel that way or have heard that phrase be used.
I don't own a credit card. I only use debit cards. When you do that, you you realize the money comes out immediately....
It does make a difference. I heard some enormous amount (in the trillions) Americans owe on credit card debt.
I realize I've actually gone off topic...perhaps. However, I see it as maybe buying less, making our money go further so we will have the money to buy items made here in the US, even if it costs a little more.
It will all start when our leaders reduce the taxes put upon companies to lure them back to manufacturing in this country.
Then the good old American way will set itself upright and ...... once again....we can see those glorious words..."Made in America". Yea! Three beautiful words.

I'm fully on board with investing in America even if it costs more. We get used to having way more than we could wear, put on our faces, etc in a lifetime and maybe the answer is having a few less "things" we end up getting rid of.
There is no need for hysteria and I don't think that is what @Annabellethecat66 was suggesting but it's okay to reflect on our current way of consuming and from whom we get our goods.

You can't be paranoid about everything made in China. You would have seen other sicknesses by now so I do not believe there is anything to worry about.

@wonderfulworld wrote:Before we ever knew of this virus we know that drugs and medicines made in China were tainted with cancer causing chemicals. Discovered after they arrived and were distributed in the US. My blood pressure medicine is one.
Generic Valsartan. Who know how long this has been going on. My drug store made me bring it back.
Prescription drugs manufactured in the US are too expensive and Insurance companies refuse to allow them.
Yes! These blood pressure meds should never ever have happened. The sleazy big pharma and the coverups. The NDMA that was contained in them. AND not to forget Zantac which was over-the-counter heartburn meds and Prilosec pulled from stores with NDMA. AND a recent diabetic medicine recalled along with a recent diet drug. This should not be happening.

@CrazyDaisy wrote:The news reported last night that the current flu virus strain is more deadly than the Coroniavirus. Have to wonder who is profiting from all the panic.....
The coronavirus is 20 times more deadly than the flu. ( 2 percent as opposed to .1 percent )

Don't worry, everyone. I have it on good authority that the coronavirus is nothing but a "hoax".
