in one store? I was/am an in, get what I want, and out person. So was my Mother. My MIL on the other hand could go all day and spend 2 hrs. in each place she went. Needless to say I never went with her, it would have driven me crazy. She is the reason my DH hated shopping, she would drag her kids along. Not fun when you are a little kid. He learned I was not his Mother and it wasn't an all day event with me.
My DD takes after her GM. She left at 8:45 am to go to a huge fabric shop 2 hrs. away. Then she going to a restaurant/shopping complex we like to get a couple things. She said, "I'll be home about 5pm." Huh? She said she will be at least 2 hrs. at the fabric place.
Last night she announced her plans for today and asked if I wanted to go. My response was, "You've known me your whole life. When have I ever liked schlepping in a store for hours? Thanks, but no thanks."
Years ago she talked her Dad and I going to Philly. We HAD to go to Ikea. Nope, after 1/2 hr. I had enough, wasn't impressed and went to the car. DH went with me. He said, God, she's just like Mother with shopping.
Are you in and out or a marathoner?

It depends what store it is and also what kind of a mood I'm in.
Sometimes I can spend 45-60-90 minutes just going up and down the aisles looking, other times I rush in and out and get what I want not stopping to look at anything else.

I like your DD more every time I hear about her. I love her quilts, and of course, she's Petunia-approved. I'd LOVE to go to a fabric store with her. I can spend an hour just examining the threads and notions. Any store that's rich in project possibilities will be a minimum two-hour commitment for me. I'd be happy even if I bought nothing.
It makes sense that your DD would be spending a lot of time in a fabric store if she's considering fabrics for a new quilt. That black/red/white quilt that Tess was taking refuge on didn't happen by accident. But to answer your question, I can spend hours in fabric stores, antique stores, and even hardware stores. Not clothing. And I'll linger in a very good food store or supermarket. Different strokes, etc.

If it's Sephora or Ulta, I could easily spend an hour or more. If I'm in Macy's depending if I liked any clothing to try on ( when we were allowed to try on clothes) also an hour or more. Now if your talking Home Depot, five minutes is too long!

"These days" I'm in/out as quickly as possible.
In "normal times" (remember those?), I can happily peruse a grocery store or market to great lengths.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 I lean towards being a marathoner, especially if it is a well stocked store. My favorites are book stores and kitchen stores, could browse for hours in pursuit of the perfect item. I make mental notes, ponder, and return to the section that holds what I decide I must purchase.
In a nicely appointed department store, like Macy's in Manhattan I'll make a circuit of the entire store, even the menswear section.

I am in and out, but the very first time I went to Wegman's I was there for about two hours taking everything in and having a snack.

I say I'm sorta in between. I can go into a store (pre pandemic) and be in and out. But I have taken my daughter clothes shopping and that requires more time. HA HA! I once went shopping with a friend who is known to like to shop. I thought how bad could it be? We were gone all day! Left by 9 a.m. and didn't get home till close to 8 p.m. We went to outlet centers, malls, furniture stores....you name it. All over the place. She had it all programed in her car GPS. Realized at one point that we were going into the city, we never go into the city. That was the last time I ever went shopping with her.

Now -- Supermarkets in and out in 10 minutes or less. Know what I need and where it is, get it and get out.
In the past I could spend an hour or more roaming around in Macy's or some other big department store. I enjoyed it.

If you are a shopper like me,try very hard not to take someone along who doesn't like to browse. I don't want to hear are we done yet, or see a lot of eye rolling. It really spoils the experience.
