@lgfan    Your nails are beautiful.   I personally don't think French manicures are out of style.   I love that  you wear a thinner white line.

I remember many years ago when all QVC hosts had impeccable manicures and it look beautiful.

Now, I can't stand to watch a presentation with ragged, unkempt nails.

Something just occurred to me ......

Maybe the gaudy nails are meant to distract the viewer so they don't see stripes and plaids that don't match, pockets that bulge and other fashion "defects."

Nail art is in style today & your manicure is almost an accessory.

In my nail salon, both men & women get nail art. It’s very popular in my area.

The hosts have lives & spend most time off camera. Nail art is expensive & usually gel & not removed with ease & so it’s worn on set. It’s a means of self expression & some designs are very pretty & creative. I don’t watch QVC that much but the two ladies who I’ve seen with intricate designs never have had dirty nails.

If I’m interested in a product, I’m not distracted by nails but I will notice dirt under a nail. I’ve only seen an unattractive under nail during a make up demo & it seemed to be product.

@Stray

First, I should state that I spent a good part of my career in Sales, so I come from that perspective.

I understand your point, but this ... sort of .... falls into what is sometimes referred to as dress codes.

Example:  If you were an attorney, you'd dress in an appropriate and professional manner .... often a suit, but never go to work in shorts and flip flops.   You get the idea,

When people are Sales Professionals, they should be well-groomed.  That means clean, neat and wear nothing gaudy or distracting.

While "nail art" may be a current thing, it's just not always appropriate.

With QVC needing to increase sales, I'm surprised they schedule those hosts to do close-up presentations.  Perhaps they should sell lawn furniture and mattresses.

Of course, if you work in a dollar store, no one cares what your nails look like.

As usual, JMO.

Too bad this thread isn't in Q Talk or Suggestion Box.

Well, if you're interested in the latest in manicures instead of selling something, watch QVC!

Nail art is nice looking and very popular.  What's not nice looking is when nails are grown out and in dire need of a manicure and they are flaunting their hands while do closeups.  It is so unprofessional.

There is a host that has nail polish that is sparkly, grown out and "lumpy". She is off for several days so I'm thinking she will redo her nails. Three days later here she is with the same lumpy polish that is grown out.

@U of M Go Blue  - You must be talking about Shawn K.  She's the only one that wears the scarkly stuff that looks like it was put on by her daugther.  She's been wearing the sprakly stuff for a long time now.  Must be her vibe.

@Carmie, I have loved that color forever! However, I now do gel polish over acrylic on my fingers, so I have to have gel polish. OPI’s gel versions of both I’m Not Really A Waitress and Bogota Blackberry, another enduring favorite, are NOT the same colors as the originals. And I got a new bottle of OPI Heart Throb (on eBay) a couple of years ago, regular polish. It is a completely different color than the original, although the label is the same. Very disappointing.

@catwoman48   I am not  a fan of gel polish.  I use the regular type.

I want to avoid UV rays and naildamage.  When my nails chips, it is a pain, but I have learned to live with it.
