There are so many variables to this question of what is "enough." I live in a four season climate and that makes a difference. If you work and a dress code also make a difference. I have pared my closet down to what fits and is a pleasure to wear. But this was my choice; I would not enjoy having a partner critiquing my closet,

I'm luckier then most because I have a large dressing room/closet. Bigger then the newer walk ins. My husband has one too (We live in a older house) So it holds a lot, but I do have a lot. Much of it is I keep putting off going through my closet. Lots of top, skirts and dresses. But it doesn't begin to show my jeans. I have so many. All of them premium jeans folded in to a big dresser. I think I own half of Rag & Bone collection of jeans.

I have relatively few clothes compared to most women.
I don't care for clothes, shopping, fashion in the least and really never have.
So I own three pair of jeans (two I just bought this week, prior to this I had just one pair). I have two pair of dress pants. I do not even own a dress or skirt at this time, I never wear them. I have about 4 pair of shorts.
Tops I do have more of. I probably have 15 winter long sleeve tops and about 10 summer/short sleeve shirts. I have maybe 4 sweaters, a jean jacket and four other similar jackets, two for spring/summer, two for fall/winter.
I own two winter coats (one casual, one dress) and perhaps three casual hooded jackets for fall or spring.
I have only 4 handbags, and maybe a total of 6 pair of shoes.
Now, if you want to talk about excess, stop by and we'll talk dishes.....that is where I loose control!

I have a lot of clothes. Handbags are my true weakness. I have almost every one I ever bought in my lifetime. LOL
I don't over buy - at least I don't feel that I do. I have different clothes for different activities. I work from home, so I really don't need anything more than jeans and nice tops. I have work out clothes and dresses and skirts. I tend to keep my clothes for a long time. I'm careful with them, so they don't get stained or ruined in the wash.
I've never actually counted my things. They fill up an entire walk in closet. My husband has a lot of clothes too.

@SeaMaiden wrote:I would love to just have those things I wear and love and THAT FIT. BUT INSTEAD I HAVE THREE SIZES OF CLOTHES
the 2/4 size that I was 5 years ago and🙏🏻 dream to be again....( if only!)
The size 6/8 that I am today...👎☹️
AND the size 10 that I hope and pray 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻I NEVER am again.
@SeaMaiden That's my situation - several sizes of clothes! Except mine range from 2x's and 22's through smalls and 10's. I'm on the lower end of the spectrum now and am determined to stay there !!
So I'm donating lots, slowly but surely.

I don't like to post on something like this because it has the possibility of 'can you top this' or 'how to make yourself look good' and so on.
When my late husband would (EXPAND) on a subject and it was obvious he was expanding....I'd say, "That sounds like a fish story to me" and we'd laugh and move on.
The topic of this post brought that to mind.....
