Re: Holy Communion Gift Suggestions

I am of the opinion that child sized jewelry (aside from earrings) is a waste.

I really like @BeccaLou's suggestion of tiny diamonique earrings, if her ears are pierced.  Maybe a diamonique tiny ring, if she doesn't have her ears pierced.

I cherished my ring I received on that occasion.  It was not expensive but it made me a jewelry fan for life.

My grandparents gave me a rosary which I also cherished.  I already had a bible and prayer book. I think familiy members usu. do gift the religious items.

ETA:  I like the diamonique idea because it won't be awful if she loses them.  I surely would have as a kid given how active and heedless I was.

Re: Holy Communion Gift Suggestions

I was given a pendant with a mustard seed encased in glass when I was young, and I always loved the pendant as well as the parable. Might be appropriate for a young girl.

Something modest like that and a dinner out would be a lovely way to mark the big day, depending on how close you are to the child and/or her family.

Re: Holy Communion Gift Suggestions

I would give money.  A treaury bond even better.  Maybe a book ABOUT Holy Communion.  Rosary beads are usually given by close family , but if you have a set that really speaks to you for that child then go for it.  Rosary beads need not be expensive.  I was given some Beautiful silver Rosary beads by a devout aunt,  but I USE the pair of Pink plastic beads my Grandmother gave me. It's all about the love.
