Re: Holiday Depression, Am I The Only One?

[ Edited ]

@KingstonsMom if this isn't too intrusive, did anyone survive the crash? I'm asking because I'm thinking they might have experienced survivor's guilt when the young children and DB passed. How very rough for them.

@AuntG

My SIL did survive the crash, physically but not emotionally.

@KingstonsMom  My heart goes out to you.  I understand how the holidays compound the loss of our beloveds.  My heart knows that very well.  I wish there was something I could do that would help.  I'm afraid there isn't.  I'm sending lots of love your way.  Please be gentle with yourself.

Re: Holiday Depression, Am I The Only One?

Some experiences change us forever.  The person we were the day before no longer exists after some heartwrenching tragedies.

So we have to learn to live as someone else, and it takes time to figure out how to do that I think.

You are not alone.  The holidays are emotional mine fields for many of us.  Some days it really is just putting one foot in front of the other.

@KingstonsMom  so sorry to hear this tragic story. How sad! You're very nice to remind everyone of how lucky they are to have family...if, in fact, they do. I bet that there are many others who have experienced loss that feel the same way around the holidays.

OMGosh IG, your family really suffered some losses.  It must be awful for all of you.  It's totally understandable if you don't feel like doing anything at all.  I think if something that sad happened in our family, the only strength I would get is just to be able to talk about it with the others.  No celebrating, just talking and crying.

It's hard losing four family members period, never mind in a relatively short period.  I hope you are able to once again enjoy the holidays.  It likely won't be like yesterday, but still enjoyable.

Dear IG,

I am so sorry to hear of your terrible family tragedy.

My deepest sympathy to all.

Your family memories of holiday celebrations will always be precious and special.  Blessings to your sister-in-law and may she find some peace in life.

Please do not hold yourself responsible for missing any signals regarding your brother. Sometimes in times of sadness or loneliness, people act on impulse.

Your message of love is very important for all of us to remember and put into practice, no matter the time of year.
