ITA with the tennis ball hanging from the ceiling where you need it to keep from hitting the shelf. At least it won't damage your car.

Yes to the tennis ball and the board. If neither of those work for you, you can line up with a marker on the side of the car. I used to have to park outside of the garage and had to worry about leaving enough room for the garage door to open (as an emergency exit) without hitting my car. I couldn't hang a ball from the sky and a board could have been a tripping hazard or moved when the car wasn't in place. We planted a tree to the side of the driveway so it was in a place where I could align my seat with the tree and it would always leave my car in the right spot.
Inside a garage, you can check alignment with a shelf, poster, or stripe aligned on the side wall.

You could put an object to the left side of the garage. When your steering wheel lines up to that object, you'll know it's time to stop and put it in park.

@FlowerBear Too bad but I was just trying to be helpful! And have a laugh because most of us have been there done that with the garage! We feel your pain!

Because of our driveway it is best to back in. I have done it but I am not comfortable doing it. My husband was quite nervous about my doing it. I now leave it in front of the door and he backs it in. Best for both of us. PS if he was watching - helping me I was worse.

i was going to do the tennis ball thing, but realized that i had a little teddy bear that belonged to one of my children. (it's not much bigger than a tennis ball) so i hung that little bear, and now he appears (arms outstretched) on my window in just the right spot whenever i park ![]()
