The reason the royal family has a vested interest in Harry and Meghan's activities is because along with multiple perks and a rather stunning residence, 95% of their income along with coverage of their expenses,, including security, is derived directly from being heirs of the Prince of Wales and 5% is derived from other royal sources. That they both might have their own money isn't the issue. In exchange for the revenue derived from being royal, they are expected to carry out certain duties on behalf of the royals. They want to change that, which is fine. No one has yet told them they can't. What they were told is that it will be a process and they seem to have ignored that, jumped the gun, though they were asked not to, and so there are those who feel what they did is not appropriate. Let them go their own way, but at least respect the woman who gave them their titles enough to work it out cooperatively as was requested...

@september She accepts the Royal's money, the privileges, but won't accept the responsibility. That may not be a crime, but it's a con and it's immoral.

@september ...If you are referring to your fellow posters as "old biddies" you have insulted a lot of people here, and in that case you owe all of us an apology.

For that matter, why has she abandoned her husband and remained in Canada after the six week break has come to an end? Harry surely misses his son.
Why don't u call up Meghan and ask her? Your response is so WERID!!!!!!!!!

Meghan didn't "abandon" her husband .... and the queen doesn't need to be "consulted" on every little thing.
Sounds like Meghan and Harry are finally going to lead a "normal" life -- instead of being told what to do, what to wear, how to curtsy, how to cross ur legs, how to raise their child, when they have to "keep a stiff upper lip", etc. It's called FREEDOM!!!!

Some people here (not all) do fall into that category and I don't owe them an apology.
many ( not all!) of you, could and should be less judgmental.

Responsibility to do what???? At least they'll make their own decisions. Harry never fit into that Royal family. Marrying Meghan was his way out!!!!! Good for him.

We've been somewhat fortunate that at least a few of these threads have been allowed to stand... I don't forsee good things for this one... Several other threads that remain have focused on reasoned statements of opinions rather than name calling and emotive comments... Perhaps that's the difference between what stays and what goes... Just a thought...
