Oh my gosh, this is so funny.
My current collie is a tri, which means he's mostly black. He has a full white neck and paws with some brown mixed in. At any rate, when he's on something light colored, the dark hairs shed and when he's on something dark colored, the white hairs shed.
Sometimes you just can't win! Hahahaha.
All of my dogs have always been allowed on our furniture and in our beds, regardless of color!
Edited to add: Leather furniture helps. No fabric for the hairs to stick to!

Years ago we actually picked the color of our carpeting to match our dog's coat.🤷♀️

@kze. They can sit on my lap in my leather recliner but it wouldn't occur to them to sit in my chair alone.

Tortoise cat = tortoise pattern sofa !!
Shades and blotches/splotches of amber, brown, black = tortoise.
