A large men's umbrella!
I stopped by (at her office) to see a friend I hadn't seen since she was sick, and she was surprised to see me. I think she re-gifted something that was in the office, probably given to her boss.
Since I'd received very nice things from her over the years, this was clearly an off the wall response. LOL
By the way .... it was a very good umbrella and I actually used it a few times before it was stolen!

My husband bought me a velvet thong one year. Good grief! I thought my kids would never stop laughing and screaming.
It is one of those memories that none of us will ever forget or ever stop laughing about when we think about it.

A skirt and blazer that my sister-in-law had sewn. It was the most hideous, bright, neon orange color! You had to sheild your eyes to look at me because it was so bright! I only wore it once out of guilt to a family function.

@LdyBugz Are you sure she didn't do it on purpose? Maybe she laughed to herself when you actually wore it to a family function.

I know they say that it's the thought that counts but I received from a young associate lawyer an ornament his wife made. The thing is it was not pretty or cute. I think he could have bought a box of candy or something on that order. To me it was an insult. Obviously, he did not know any better nor did his wife. I believe he now has about 5 kids. I wonder what he is giving this year. ![]()

Years ago, I was a secretary in a brokerage firm. Our manager was very cheap and one year he bought all of the secretaries in the office chia pets for Christmas...you know, those sculptural planters that hold grass seed that grow?
We were all so disappointed and cursed him behind his back because we knew he could have afforded to give us something nicer...even a $10 gift card to a coffee shop would have been more appreciated!

One year my mom gave me a large jar of peanut butter all wrapped up nicely with a bow and a gift tag.
And that was all I got from her.My brother got a nice gift. A shirt and tie and a nice wallet and his wife got a costume jewelry necklace from Macy's. I never forgot that.
