What's the strangest holiday gift you've ever received?

Someone once gave me a gift certificate for tap dance lessons at a local dance studio.  For one...lol   I assure you anyone who knows me knows that I am not a tap dance type of girl.  Sompe people thought it was a "fun" gift but if that was the case, I think they would have given me a certificate for two so I could have fub  with a friend.  I assume she re-gifted some type of promotional gift certificiate.

I had a boyfriend who bought me a pair of shoes.  Bright purple vinyl low-heel pumps. This was the mid-90's.  They were ugly as sin and I could not for the life of me figure out why he bought me SHOES.  Still can't.

I got a secret Santa gift of a pair of hot pink men's boxer shorts with glow-in-the-dark condoms with happy faces on them....the gifter had a strange sense of humor....I actually wore them though....

Too many to list, but I still love the holidays, including the part where some of the gifts are weird.

Years ago I got one gift that. . . well, I couldn't figure out what it was.  So I put it away hoping time would solve the riddle.

But there is no way of asking the giver of a gift _what_ the gift was.  Wonderful elder relative, and the only enigma I ever received from her.

I sent a tea towel from France to the widow of one of my early mentors.  (She married an American but had grown up in France.)

She wrote back thanks for the "scarf."  I think this problem of "gift-incomprehension" might be more common than we think.

I was once given a set of handmade canisters by my stepmother with the remark "You'd better like these, they cost enough!".  They were much too modern for my house and the print on them didn't agree with me at all.

When I cleared my life of everything toxic, the canisters were part of the clearing as she was.

That reminds me of when Bernice on Designing Women wore her "tree skirt" gift to work!  Too funny!!

Size 13 underwear from my granny. We both fit inside them.
