Getting my first hair cut this Friday

My hair salon is back in business.  In fact for the last 2 weeks, he's been open.  My appointment is for this Friday at noon.  I don't need any color, as my hair isn't grey yet, but it's super long and bushy.  He (my stylist) talked me in to getting high lights in front of my hair.  I've always had very thick hair and it it's not cut properly,  it grows bushier and bushier. In fact, it sticks out like a bush. I'm kind of disoriented, since I work at home (still) and trying to figure out a time I can leave to get my hair cut.

My husband just had his first hair cut.  Yes, his was growing long too.  His barber shop opened last week. He couldn't decided when to have his appointment, so he picked 6:00 this evening.

Re: Getting my first hair cut this Friday

My salon opens Monday, and my stylist called to schedule me for Monday afternoon.  Just getting a cut...I have it colored medium blonde with highlights, but am going to see how I like continuing letting it go to a natural white and silvery gray.  I'm about 1/3 of the way there right now.

I have to wait in the parking lot for her to come get me, and wear a mask.  Haven't been there since March 6....looking forward to a good cut!

By the end of summer I will know whether or not I want to start coloring again.

Re: Getting my first hair cut this Friday

I went today and was very anxious about it. Being in my late 60s I've been super careful trying not to catch the virus and do not go out much.

I'm so happy I went -- it was fine. Masks were required and worn by everyone at all times (even during my shampoo) and capes are only used ones and there was a lot of sanitizing going on. No customers were sitting in the salon, all were in their cars or shopping if waiting for their appointments. My hairdresser is quite young so I was talking about how careful I've been about the pandemic due to my age whereupon she told me she has asthma, which I'd never known before, and was being super careful also. So all went well, I had been anxious for nothing, and I feel much better and neater now after my trim. (The place, as I had expected, raised their prices though to make up for lost business).

It'll go fine Songbird1. 👍

Re: Getting my first hair cut this Friday

Had mine cut and hi-lites done Wed.  Only my hairdresser and one other operator there.  That's the way they're working it........2 stylist and 2 customers at a time.  Nothing really unusual - limited seating in the waiting area - style stations still in same arrangement - glad to get rid of that extra hair.

Salons here in Michigan re-open on Monday, June 15th. The earliest that I could get an appointment with my stylist is June 25th. By that time I'll have been growing hideous gray roots for a little over 4 months. I can't wait!

I live in Colorado and have had my hair cut and colored twice. Our salons opened on May 1st. I am 73 and had no reservations going to the salon. Everyone wears a mask, they take your temperature before you are allowed into the salon. Only customers with appointments are allowed. They practice social distancing. Everything has worked out. Prices have gone up due to they only allow a certain number of people into the salon.

OMG!  I'm dying to see my stylist on July 9!!  Surprisingly my whites aren't as prominent as I thought.  I desperately need a haircut and color.  So jealous of you that have been already.

@FrostyBabe1 But I think gray is very appropriate for a "Frosty"Babe! 😆

Actually I've been very glad through this pandemic that I decided to go to my natural silver a couple of years ago and stopped coloring my hair.

A few of my friends have stopped coloring their hair, and if I had the beautiful silvery and white hair that they do, I would as well. But I don't. It's a muddy, nasty gray that was brought on very quickly by stress.  It's just got to go!

Re: Getting my first hair cut this Friday

I wanted to wait a month after she opened. I colored my own hair and even cut it a few times.  Thank goodness my haircut in,March was short.  Looks pretty good longer.

my hairdresser said she is not raising prices.  Also she and another girl are co owners of a two person shop, and will work alone on different days.  Also one person at a time.  So it will be and her only in shop.

you know, the last time I had haircut was in March and we didn,t know it, but the infection was going on then.  They say it was present in Dec 2019.
