The Queen's Official B'Day-Trooping the Colour

While the Queen was born in April, her official birthday isn't celebrated until June, when it is marked with a parade known as Trooping the Colour. The grand annual event is traditionally marked with huge crowds lining the streets of London, a military demonstration, carriage procession, and finally, with the entire extended royal family up on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

But, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced a change in plans this year. And today, the Queen is celebrating her 94th birthday with a scaled-down (though no less jubilant) ceremony at Windsor Castle, where she has been socially distancing for months now.

Is this current?  Good grief I think the poor lady needed some time away because she looks fabulous!

How come I don't look that much better?  Woman Wink

She is a survivor isn't she?  I would not want to mess with that lady (thinking of some recent events!).  Woman Very Happy

Love, love, love!

Love the carrying on of tradition.  Of course I love her stately, beautiful look.  And I love that she represents something (to me, at least) of continued dignity in the face of the degradation of so much.

@dulwich. Did any of your relatives participate in this pared-down (from Trooping the Colour) ceremony? For posters who didn't know, Dulwich was supposed to attend Trooping to see relatives in it before it was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Queen looks lovely but her beautiful outfit look too warm for this time of year.

The queen used to ride her horse at the Trooping.

You will probably remember back in 1981, someone shot at her and she was able to control her horse and proceed on calmly.

@KingstonsMom

Thank you for posting.  So nice to see today.

First photo, wonder who the man is?

Noted the coordinating tie, nice touch.

@Pearlee  No none of my lot it was the Welsh Guards who put on the mini troop today all had to be 2 m apart  - social distancing.

I thought the Queen looked so tiny but she seemed to enjoy it all having a good laugh at the end of the ceremony.  Windsor looked beautiful.  Ah well next year.....
