No did not get up early for this. Didn't get up early for any royal wedding either. Figure it will be covered on the noon new, 4 and
5 o'clock news. Let's not forget the 6,7 and 11 o'clock news.
The woman has been gone for 11 days and has covered more ground than I have in years.
When I got up DD said, "it's on all news channels". Put a movie on, did laundry, had breakfast, unloaded dishwasher, played with the cats. Just checked, now nearly 4 hours later.........she is still on the move.

I didn't plan to watch, but when I tuned in to catch weather and traffic with my morning tea, the ceremony had preempted the news channels.
I saw from the ArchBishop to the pallbearers carrying her coffin out. When the camera suddenly panned into her bagpiper standing in his little alcove playing, I confess to shedding a tear or two.
Does anyone know if there are recordings of the full event that I can watch?

@Somertime wrote:The magnificence of the pageantry steeped in history is overwhelming for me. The preciseness with which this is being carried off and the size of the endeavor and all that it encompasses is truly a sight to be hold. The glory of Westminster Cathedral, especially the overhead shots looking down onto the black and white floor, the red of the uniforms, the young boys in the choir with their sweet faces in song, the magnificent flowers..........I am grateful to be able to see history.
I agree with every point you made.

Absolutely amazing how many people have lined the streets there to witness this historical event. Equally amazing is how many people are a part of the actual service and what it took to coordinate all of this. Just stunning!

@goldensrbest - I think it might be her husband.

The Queen's dogs are there. They're beautiful!

Instead of working this AM, I've been trying to track down the reason Princess Anne was occasionally walking with a cane during the procession.
There is a total absence of any mention of the Princess using one (just Googling around). But there was a big story in Fall 2021 that might offer an explanation. Anne accompanied the Queen last October to an event (at Westminstrer Abbey); where for the first time, Anne was seen passing a walking stick to her mother to assist in the Queen's stability.
Maybe this AM, she continued to carry the Queen's walking stick as a kind of memorial gesture (and she drew attention to it, using it lightly)? .
Another factoid cast up by Google: Anne was wearing her mother's favorite shade of pink lipstick today. Funerals have their poimp, but the mourners have different ways of paying tribute and remembering. . . .

As usual, my elderly beagle woke me up before 5am to go out. Normally I'd go back to sleep but I remembered the funeral so I turned it on. The pageantry and pomp of the Brits cannot be equaled. But, OMG, all that walking. I felt sorry for those who may feel proud to be in the procession but will be soaking their feet tonight. Apparently, there has not been a ceremony like this in Westminster since the funeral of George ll in the 18th century. And no bathroom breaks? On the plus side were William's children, the Queen's pony and her corgis. It was quite a send off, the likes of which we will never see again.

Very interesting to watch from a historical standpoint. All I can think is how tired the family must be, dealing with the grief and all these services. The country and the family really came out to support her and I am sure she was very pleased looking down from heaven.
