Re: Getting Up Early for Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral Service

I did not get up early to watch. The casket was coming out of the Abbey and being placed in the hearse for the trip to Windsor Castle when I got up. I am sure there will be countless recordings and replaying of the funeral if I decide to watch it later. What is of more interest to me are the photos of so many people. Many I recognize, many I don't. One close-up of Charles III standing next to his mother's casket inside the church broke my heart. He looked as if he was bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders, and in a sense he is. Not to mention grieving for his dear mother and all it means to him, his children, and grandchildren. A somber but beautiful occasion indeed.

I googled your question with the Queen's funeral and all I got was "the King and others walked 1.5 hours total.

They've been walking so slowly.  It has to be at least a couple of miles.

@Burnsite  Looks like a part of their military uniform. They all have one.

they couldnt get someone to walk discreetly and sccop up?

the whole procession had to step it

@Yahooey   It is the reason sand is put down; not just in case a horse slips it is also to muffle the sound of the hooves and for easy clean up.

Yes.  Very proud.  This is a monumental occasion and a national holiday for the UK.  It is staggering to me that we no longer have our Queen.  She's just always been there.  A truly beautiful send off for an amazing lady.
