I can't help think of the times in the past I've set my alarm, starting when I was young for the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, through Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and later on to the weddings of Princes  William and Harry.

In the past these have been happy times. For the weddings of the younger princes, DD and I would have tea and scones.

This is not a happy time, and DD has to work, but I feel honored to, in a way, attend this service.

Who else is getting up early to watch this live?

I've been up and watching since 4:30 a.m. EST! I have found the pageantry absolutely beautiful, and quite fascinating!  Is it bad that I was also eager to see all the fashion choices? Of course, Catherine the Princess of Wales looked magnificent, graceful and always so chic.

the whole procession had to step it

@Yahooey   It is the reason sand is put down; not just in case a horse slips it is also to muffle the sound of the hooves and for easy clean up.

All the major tv stations have live coverage that started before 4:30 when I woke up. I'm flipping between CNN and MSNBC.

@chrystaltree

a poster commented that bbc was cable.  my post was just to show it's live on internet vs cable.

Yes we were able to watch the funeral even though we are on vacation.

We've been there for all royal occasions. 🙏🏻💐

Re: Getting Up Early for Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral Service

I'm up pretty early anyway, usually between 5:30 and 6:30 so I did put it on while drinking my coffee.  I have had it on all morning in the background.  It is historical and interesting but I do agree with some that it has gone on a bit too long.  I do feel for the royal family and the British people but it is time to move on.

Also someone mentioned that Princess Anne was walking with a cane?  I thought it was some kind of sword that went with her military uniform??

I have a question about the man that was to the side of princees anne,in the procession, walking to the left of her?

Re: Getting Up Early for Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral Service

The coverage by the BBC is far superior than the American channels.  So much history is explained and the reason as to why certain things are done.  Example:  the throwing of the flowers at the casket........first time was during Princess Diana's procession.

At Windsor, people were asked not to leave flowers wrapped in cellophane. All the flowers were arranged lining the drive as borders at Windsor Castle

You can watch the BBC on Direct TV channel 264 or on your computer:
