In my opinion, George Zimmerman is not only looking for attention and recognition, he is toying with authority.  It would seem to me that he is attempting to show the world what he can get away with until the day comes when his luck will run out and he will finally be incarcerated for a long time.

I believe he needs psychological help but unfortunately he doesn't know it and no one is authorizing him to get it.  Personally I think he is dangerous, I could be wrong but his actions speak louder than words.

Another indicator of his Sociopathy.  No regard or respect for authority.

What is truly unfortunate is that unless a Sociopath has intervention at a very young age (a MSW who works with children told me that if it doesn't happen by around age 7 then there is really no hope that they will change).

We will agree to disagree, I have been in the field for a long time Smiley Happy

It was debated for years and only recently the distinction has been made more clear.  I have the new DSM 5 if we need to verify the articles, but I do think they did a pretty good job of it of explaining the differences.

Okay.  Well, I have friends who have been in the field a long time and I've had discussions with them about this subject.

Some think the distinction is crystal clear, and some don't.

They're up to date on what the newest research says.

So, no more pissing contest, O.K.?

Sure, it's OK with me, but I didn't see your first comment to me as a pissing contest.  I can also understand that some people would see him as a sociopath.

And I am the first to say the argument has been going on for a long time and confused it all.  That's true for some other diagnoses, too.  Sometimes it's just a mess trying to decide a label for the reporting or insurance end of it.

I understand Smiley Happy.

My only point (well, maybe not my ONLY point - haha) was that even if the distinctions between the 2 are settled, we don't really know enough about GZ to put him into another slot.  He exhibits behaviors consistent with a Sociopath.  We can't look into the physiology of his brain, and we don't know enough about his early childhood to even venture a guess as to whether or not it was a factor.

Sociopaths can be charming people too, until you get to know them well.

Oh, yes, it's part of their bag of tricks.

Well, I'm not a shrink, so I can only give my dimestore account of what I think GZ is about. He's a little man with a big need for recognition and power. Underneath, he feels inferior to others. Life has not turned out the way he expected and he has been less than successful in many endeavors. He thinks a gun makes him a man and brings him the respect he wants. Why else would he volunteer as a pseudo cop in a neighborhood watch situation. Because of his own inferior feelings, he naturally seeks to find others whom he considers more inferior to intimidate. And in this case, it seems to be African Americans and women. Eventually, he will end up inccarcerated as I don't see his behavior really changing. I'm guessing he is trying to sell this particular gun to some sicko who will give him big bucks for it. I doubt GZ has a high paying job. Please don't go after me for my analysis. I don't purport to be a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I have taught teens for 30 years, and I recognize budding George Zimmermans when I see them.

Your analysis sounds plausible.  I sure hope you aren't seeing too many budding GZs up here:/

I'm not teaching now, but I saw a little bit of everything. Gang bangers, killers, petty thieves, Rhodes scholars, discarded kids, sweet kids despite their horrible beginnings, abused kids, kids with cancer, average, normal teens, and goal oriented college bound students. It's a microcosm of society itself.

Let's hope he ends up like O.J.

He'll do something to get himself in prison for good.

I can't imagine the pain the Martin family feels with him being a free man and gloating about it.    It's so obvious now that he killed their son on purpose.   He wasn't the "good" neighborhood watch man on patrol that he wanted everyone to think.

The auction is back on, folks! It's at UnitedGunGroup.com.

There have been two (probably fake) 65 million dollar bids...people are trying to mess up the real auction.

Good for them.

What I think is that he went out that night to hunt.  Most likely he'd done it before and had his excuse ready, he was The Neighborhood Watch Man.  In reality, he was a predator.

So true.   Even while he was stalking this young man, who was only walking home from the convenience store, he was following him in his vehicle and the police he had called (as the poor kid was WWB) TOLD him to stay in the vehicle and let them handle it - if there was anything to handle.

He chose to continue following the kid and made the move of getting out of his vehicle, AFTER told not to, making sure he had his equalizer with him.

I bet, as stupid as he is, he's probably salivating over these $65,000+ bids on his little treasure (well, his OTHER little treasure. heh) because he's too dumb to know that people are effing with him.
