There IS a cure for this kind of ridiculous "parenting"...

At about age 14, start to emphasize that after high school graduation, three choices:

Full Time Job,,,( where the teen learns he can NOT live on minimum wage and no education).

College ( or Trade School).

Military ..see the world, get an education, learn about some place other than the tiny burg you live in ( if there's less than 200K people in that town).

Then, go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy the strongest door locks you can afford.

install on the childhood bedroom door AND the door to the basement.

Make sure the child is educated, starting at age 14, on what that lock signifies.

That way there are NO surprises at 18.

It works.

Stay in school til graduation....then pick from the three choices above.

Because.... you can NOT live in the childhood bedroom or the basement beside the water heater if you don't.

And for God's sake....DON'T go with your kid to the interivew for the first job.

And make sure the kid gets a drvier's license. NOT a permit. Get off social media and teach the kid to drive.

Sheeesh.

I would LOVE to be a fly in the HR Manager's office when that Mommy and her widdle baby job appilcant leave the job interview.

I bet it's a hoot!!

Don't do that to your kid.

Great post .......

IMO, in the most basic terms, parents should be teaching their children SURVIVAL SKILLS.
