Are you directing your question to those in TX or LA, why would anybody else have long lines?  @sidsmom

To anyone..🙂

There's a ripple effect, especially since the 4th largest US city

has been knocked down by Mother Nature. Everyone is affected.

I'm in Atlanta. Just topped off my tank about an hour ago. No lines. I paid $2.69 for regular. Mid grade was $3.09 and premium was $3.69. This was at BP.

I topped off today because in this morning's paper it said that two of the pipelines that service our area are shutting down temporarily because of the hurricane.

I have a nephew in the affected area that works for a fuel terminal that supplies several of the area refineries.  The facility had flooded with a couple of feet of water that they were frantically pumping out.  He and his boss have spent the last few nights sleeping on cots there.  They also had several administrative offices flooded.  The employees are trying to come to work and also deal with their own family crises.  Everyone is dealing with this as best they can.

As of a few hours ago when I last heard about this, they still didn't know when the refiners would be able to reopen.

I absolutely will defend @sidsmom oon this issue.

Her subject line was clear to me-but I'm 56. There were gas shortages back in the 70's- which led to....long lines of people waiting at gas stations to fuel up.

I absolutely do not agree with everything Sidsmom says, but we have made peace. She has a pure heart-I have NEVER seen her be discourteus to those who disagree with her-ever.

Instead, of CAUSTIC nasty words, she gives what she believes to be facts.....

I have had many fights with her-but I realized her heart is in the right place-and no, I don't believe everything she "plugs in" as truth....

She has always been gracious in replies-maybe not acceptable to all of us-me included.

We can all agree to....disagree....and vegetable consumption never hurts anyone.....

Please, can we try to be kinder?

A friendship hug.

@Poodlepet2, I'm no professional, just very interested in keeping tabs on the sometimes-volatile and unregulated price of #2 fuel oil, which is my heating fuel.

I use oil-price.net for my info.

You're talking about oil futures and I'm talking about the the one-year forecast for the per-barrel price, and while you'd think they'd be aligned, apparently not. The oil and gas industry is one big, smelly mystery to me.

All I know is I should top up my 500-gallon tank now, because it could be a long, cold winter. Sob.

I feel very sorry for those in Houston facing not only flooding, loss of home & the long lines at the pumps.. I recall this during Hurrican e Sandy and when I experienced it while vacationing many years ago during Hurricane David in Florida.

That being said - what really annoys me is gas was $2.19/gal yesterday today it is $2.49.  I've noticed in FL there is no "ceiling" on what they can raise it like in NJ.

@noodleann, now I understand. When we lived in Pa. so many grappled with this issue....when to lock in.

We had all electric, but our bills were sky high compared to those with single family homes....on the other hand, we were all scrimping by...tough times...

Hugs,

@jaxs mom@sidsmom@homedecor1@noodleann@Poodlepet2

DH was out and got gas earlier. He went to 4 stations (out of gas). The fifth one he tried had gas and he bought at .15 higher than expected.

No lines herecat that time (10:30 am)

We are in the Southwest area of the DFW metroplex.

Gas prices have jumped from $2.28 to $2.60+ for regular, I live 50 miles northwest of Detroit, MI. No lines but Yikes that hike happened in 2 days.

No lines this morning but DS just pinged and said there are lines all over the place in San Antonio.

Labor Day aside, the shutdown of some major fineries is putting people out there because there will be a temporary shortage.

This will affect from Texas up to NJ.
