In our oceans. The invention of plastic has taken a terrible toll. The first time I ever noticed about the oceans was during the search for the Malaysian jet liner that disappeared. I saw a door from a house. Just a door loating in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
This is off the coast of the Domican Republic. A mile lone and wide of garbage. Just floating around

@songbird So true...and the harm to animals as well as the environment is heart breaking.

Yes it's a shame. However, you don't have to go that far away - TV shows/showed houses floating downstream after floods in CA, NC and TX. Caskets in LA too. Not all gabage is caused by humans - severe storms are the worse I think.

It's all over the news....why here? We are aware!
And the problem is being addressed and worked on.

Cruise ships and other ships are the worst at polluting. They are not suppose to dump their trash BUT THEY DO.
Years ago in 1987, when on a Carnival one week cruise... each night we watched from the banister of the ship bag after bag after bag of trash being dumped in the ocean.... we had no phones back then to take pictures and turn them in. And we did not know at the time that it was illegal. We should have reported it if we had known about it being wrong to do....... I did not know until years later that I should have reported it.

I am appalled and angered by all the litter in my area. Plastic is all over the highways and it is despicable. People are at fault for most of the litter and the problem is not being taken care of and if it is, I want proof.
This is an unhealthy situation for all of us and one that can be stopped. I have made calls to representatives and will continue to do so. It is a disgrace people think the land and water ways are their personal garbage dump. I know not everyone of course litters but for those who do, there needs to be accountability.

Humans invented it. Other humans need to dispose of it in ways better than sending it to sea. I realize this wouldn't eliminate the problem, but if more humans weren't either uncaring or just plain lazy, the problem might actually reduce to something another human could figure out how to contain.

Now that is a shock..... I never heard of that before. I had no idea. Just awful.
