You should just say whatever it is you really want to say.  I think it's perfectly okay to "gossip" about celebrities who put themselves out there.  If a celebrity constantly invites the public to "like" them on FB, if a celebrity has blog, if a celebrity shares bits and pieces of their personal life on FB or in blogs and in all the other social media sites....then that celebrity (or anyone else) cannot complain when they become the subject of conversation.  Even if the conversation is negative or hurtful.  This whole social media stuff isn't a one way street.

Gossip is a spectrum, but at one end of the continuum it can be intensely malicious.  Think of the teens who commit suicide because of malicious gossip, rumors and lies about sexual preferences or girls who "sleep around," for instance.

OTOH, it can just be a kind of curiosity about other people. People who aren't inclined to having a critical nature gossip less--but so do cold people who lack interest in other people.

I guess gossip is just part of human nature, which is a mix of good in bad in everyone.
