You will just have to go and try things for yourself. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. I am an avid baker and cook. I've only tried three Costco baked goods, and two were so bad, we didn't eat them all. One thing was very good. I guess if someone doesn't bake or cook, I can see how he/she might think Costco's offerings are good, or maybe we just picked the wrong things to try.
As others mentioned, their shoes and casual clothing are offered at a fabulous price, and the clothing goes on sale frequently. The 32 degree brand of base layers is very good. Their kitchen trash bags and paper napkins are good. I don't care for their brand of paper towels--leave lint. Many of the things I have listed/will list go on sale throughout the year. You will get paper flyers and online flyers concerning sales. I stock up when the staples I like are on sale.
Their brand of clear detergent is as good as Tide Free and Clear imo. I buy my Cascade pods, Gain, and Downy Unstoppable Scent beads there. Their brand of Calcium plus D3, Zinc, and Magnesium gets a high rating from Consumer Labs, so I buy it when on sale. When on sale, their allergy medications are a good price. I buy their frozen 91/9 ground beef rolls and find the ground beef to be of excellent quality. Their brand of cauliflower crust pizza is amazing. We're not health nuts or anything, but they offered a sample of that one time, and I couldn't believe how good it was. Baking on the bottom rack of the oven is key to a good result, though. No pizza pans!
Their snack aisles are something else. If you like nuts, their bags of snacking nuts are so good! My husband likes the fancy mixed nuts. I do, too, but so do my hips. lol Their baking nuts are just as good.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. Watch for the death star on tags. The death star indicates final quantities and the lowest price they will offer an item. I will attach a photo of that.
One thing I need to mention is their fabulous return policy. You can try anything and except for electronics and a few other things spelled out on your receipt and online, you can return anything at any time. There is no 30-day limit. I guess we should have returned those baked goods. lol
We have the base membership, which costs $60. We easily, easily, easily save that by what we purchase there. We won't be without our membership and find Costco's offerings far superior to Sam's. The one thing Sam's has that Costco doesn't is scan and go, but maybe that will come in the future.

@speedy girl wrote:Any time you have a choice between name brand item and Kirkland, chose Kirkland! Costco has high standards and since Kirkland is their brand, everything is always very good!!
I've gotten Kirkland bathing suits that were made by MiracleSuit (as indicated on the label) for $30. In terms of quality, they were identical to other MiracleSuits that I had.

I go to Costco a lot, in fact I was there last night. Costco is only 20 min. away. First off, I get many of my over the counter medications there, like Kirkland brand Nexium, Tylenol, flonase, etc. You can't beat the prices.
Sometimes I purchase clothes at Costco. Right now, I am enjoying warm PJ's that I bought for around $15. I love the Carol Hocchman (Spelling) panties. 4 or 5 pairs for less than $15, socks.
Paper products, I like the bounty and charmin, but I think I got spoiled during covid.
I have a heated throw, I bought a month or so ago, towels, sheets.
Last night I picked up a tin of Davids Pecan Meltaways for around $7.00 for 2 lbs. Insane price. Rolls for sandwiches, veggies, fruit,
They had Juniors plain cheesecakes there last night and they have Juniors minis in the freezer section right now.
I could go on and on, but Costco is my favorite place to shop. I usually go later in the day since I drive by almost daily for work. I wound not go on Saturday or Sunday because of the crowds. Have fun!

An easier question would be what Don’t we purchase from Costco. They have such a wide variety of items. Then there are the gas stations. Always lower in price than the other stations. We have a membership at BJ’s also. Between the two I prefer Costco but BJ’s is closer to us. The Scarborough location makes it less of a drive for us now.
Was watching the news segment on it yesterday. Over 8,000 people had signed up for membership before the store even opened! People were waiting in line for an hour and more for the opening. I don’t think the crowds will die down. Best to go on a Tuesday or Wednesday when it first opens in the morning.

Love Costco
Many of our favorites were already mentioned but we get our contacts and glasses from their optical shop.
We've bought many couches and mattresses from there. We're about to pull the trigger on a new tv. Their price is comparable to other stores but better warranty and the cash back we get on our Visa and our executive membership makes them a better deal.
We've had 3 refrigerators delivered from Costco. The delivery people don't work for Costco, they are contracted. The last delivery guy was snarky. They haul away old, set up new and take away box.
We've only used Kirkland TP for the past 15+ years. The price has gone up and the roll count has gone down which is a bummer.

Dinner time during the week is also a good time to go to the store. Lunch time is bananas because people eat their lunch, pizza and hotdogs, after they check out.
I've purchased sheets, bath towels, kitchen towels, pillows, blankets and throws. Their cauliflower crust supreme pizza is pretty good but I always add extra cheese, lol. Just picked up the frozen Juniors cheesecake mini's in the freezer section on sale.
I've purchased many clothing items at great prices. I just purchased a 32 Degree plush zip jacket for $17! Anyway, don't forget to look at their clothing items online because not everything is in the warehouse.
I've also had my eyes examined and purchased glasses at Costco. There's always people waiting to get prescriptions filled. I buy laundry, cleaning and paper products there. The only thing I haven't purchased there are big appliances like a washer/dryer.

@Etoile308 - Yes, I saw those other methods of payment, but I don't use any of those. I prefer to use my credit card. So unless it was something inexpensive, where I'd use cash, Costco doesn't make sense for me.
I'd like to just go in and have a browse at some point, to see what all the buzz is about, but I can't see getting a VISA CC just to shop there. (I used to have one, but the issuer switched to MasterCard!)

@Love4cats - Have fun. Let us know what you think, when you've had a chance to shop!

The big red tins of David's Mexican wedding cookies (powdered sugar coated meltaways) are on holiday sale at Costco right now for about $8 ($3 off regular price).

@spumoni99 wrote:I am pretty sure you can use your ATM. I have the costco credit card which is nice because it gives you extra years of the warranty on electronics and 5% cash back in addition to the cash back from your membership.
You are correct. As a 20 plus year Costco Member. I have only ever used my Debit Card with the Visa, symbol and I have never had a problem. Last year or perhaps the year before, they did start accepting Visa credit cards, before it was American Express only.
