Just got this email from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, of which I am a member. I have removed a couple of links to the site so my thread doesn't get zapped.
Join us for a special afternoon with 2014 Inductee John Oates
on Sunday, May 21!
Oates will chat with fans, perform a short acoustic set, and sign copies of his new book,Change of Seasons. Here's the schedule for the day:
Other things to note:

Im a big fan of Hall and Oates also. I hope you have fun if you go. John has been going around to book signings (I saw the pics on Instagram). Closest to me was Philly as I am in PA. I couldnt go so I missed it. But I am going to buy his book. I saw Hall and Oates 4Xs over the years. They are still fabulous!

I always liked their music OK. Thought it was rather peppy.
My niece's best friend has had her own granola company for years and one of her granolas was named "Haulin' Oats". They sued her. When the lawsuit was over she renamed it "Kiss My Oats". Clever girl.
I wouldn't walk across the street to see them for free now.

@Shorty2U I'm not going. I like their music but I'm not that big of a fan to travel for something like this. Nor will I buy the book. I just posted this thread for the fervent fans of theirs. Since you are in PA, why not go? If I know my geography, Ohio is the next state west! ![]()

I really liked Hall and Oates too but after hearing what a deadbeat dad Darryl Hall was it ruined me for their music. I can't get that out of my head and I have absolutely zero respect for a man like that.

I don't know his history about being a deadbeat dad but I believe that I read he has Lyme disease. I know from experience with my husband who had chronic Lyme it's a life changer that can make one very sick & fatigued. It's hard to judge an ill person.

@Pearlee I would love to go even just to check out the R&R hall of fame ...maybe someday I just can't see going to Cleveland for anything else though. I'm in Pa (near the Jersey border) but it's still a 6 1/2 - 7 hour drive for me.

@haddon9 Move to Erie. It would then be a much shorter drive! LOL

@Pearlee LOL! Sure no problem!
I was just talking with my daughter yesterday about when she was in college and she became friends with kids from all over Pa. There are parts of Pa that are totally foreign to me....culturally different. It's like a different country in some parts.

@haddon9 I would think the Amish population would certainly be a different culture.
Pennsylvania is certainly a wide state. I've driven through it many times. Pretty drive. Lots of tunnels too through mountains. I passed by the sign for Wilkes Barre many times before I ever heard how it was pronounced! I stopped outside Hershey once and bought a post card advertising Hershey to send to my chocoholic mother! That was fun!
