Heinz has issued a gravy recall – just in time for Thanksgiving – because one of its products is mislabeled and could be a danger to people with food allergies.

The recall affects about 500 cases of Heinz HomeStyle Bistro Au Jus Gravy.

“Some of the jars may be mislabeled as Heinz Pork Gravy and therefore not labeled as containing milk and soy,” Heinz says.

Anyone with milk or soy allergies could suffer a life-threatening reaction if they consume the recalled gravy.

The recalled 12-ounce jars have a best by date of Dec. 28, 2017; manufacturing code MU6F04 4Q ; and UPC 013000798907.

I received a telephone call last week from Giant Eagle that there was a recall of some 4C brand grated parmesan cheeses.  I think it was due to possible salmonella.

I was a little irritated because they told me to throw the product out and bring my receipt for a refund.  I don't save my grocery receipts!  I went in this weekend and was told without the receipt, they wouldn't do anything.  Obviously they knew I bought the item because they called me and said based on my receipt, they saw I had purchased the product.

A microwavable macaroni and cheese dish sold under Walmart's Great Value brand and two others have been voluntarily recalled by the producer, officials said Sunday. TreeHouse Foods Inc. announced the recall of certain macaroni and cheese cup products containing cheddar cheese seasoning which may be contaminated with salmonella.

The company says its supplier used a milk powder in the seasoning that has the potential salmonella contamination.

Got another call from Giant Eagle yesterday about a recall of cookies under the brand of Lenny's and Larry's.  Those are "complete" cookies that you buy in the area where health bars are sold.  They said it was for a milk allergen and if you didn't have a milk allergy, you didn't need to worry.  Good thing because I bought those over a month ago and ate one for breakfast until they were gone.

Once again, the message was to bring my receipt to GE and they'd give me my money back.  I don't have a milk allergen so I don't have to worry about it but I guess I'm going to have to save my receipts from now on.  I'm getting pretty tired of spending money on stuff, only to have it recalled and my only recourse is to come in with my receipt to get a refund or I'm tossing the product and I'm out the money.

@Lipstickdiva

i am one of those people that saves pretty much EVERY receipt i get and file them away by month in a folder. it is a bit of work, but nice and organized when you need to find a receipt.

i do agree though......if a store has called you about a refund they should just be able to look it up and give you a credit. sams club will do this.
