Tyson Chicken Nuggets Nationwide Recall: Possible Plastic in the Nuggets The nuggets were shipped to stores across the country, the USDA said.

Tyson has issued a recall for some of its frozen chicken nuggets after discovering pieces of plastic may have gotten inside some of the nuggets, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The plastic pieces reported in the chicken nuggets were about 21 mm in length and 6.5 mm in diameter, a USDA release states. The plastic may have come from a "round, hard plastic rod" used in the manufacturing process, the USDA said.

The plastic contamination affects these two products:

  • 5-lb. bag containing “Tyson FULLY COOKED PANKO CHICKEN NUGGETS” with a “Best If Used By” date of July 18, 2017 and case code 2006SDL03 and 2006SDL33.
  • 20-lb. bulk packages containing “SPARE TIME Fully Cooked, Panko Chicken Nuggets, Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Pattie Fritters With Rib Meat” with a production date of July 18, 2016 and case code 2006SDL03.

The 20-pound bags were sent only to locations in Pennsylvania for "institutional use," while the 5-pound bags were shipped to major retailers across the country, according to the USDA.

Turkey Hill is recalling some mislabeled packages of ice cream.

The Conestoga, Pennsylvania-based dairy says some of its 48-ounce containers of Dutch Chocolate Premium Ice Cream actually contain Rocky Road Premium Ice Cream instead.

Rocky Road contains almond and egg ingredients that could pose problems for people with allergies.

The dairy is recalling all packages of Dutch Chocolate ice cream that have Rocky Road lids and a sell-by date of May 23, 2017.

Sabra Dipping Co. is voluntarily recalling some hummus products and spreads because of possible Listeria contamination, the US Food and Drug Administration said Saturday.

The products were manufactured before November 8 at a plant where Listeria monocytogenes have been found, but the bacteria has not been found in products that have been tested, the FDA said. The products were distributed to retail outlets in the United States and Canada.

Consumers are urged to discard any product with a "Best Before" date through January 23, 2017. That date can be found on the lid of each package.
A list of the products recalled can be found on the FDA or Sabra websites.
