Investigation underway after hundreds of FedEx packages found ‘thrown off a ravine’

BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a situation involving hundreds of missing packages from FedEx.

According to BCSO, deputies located “300-400 boxes of assorted sizes” that appear to have “been thrown off a ravine.”

At 5 p.m., FedEx officials sent another vehicle to collect the assorted packages from the scene.

They were unable to get all of the packages Wednesday night and will send another truck Thursday to finish.

FedEx will scan the packages to see where they came from and where they are supposed to go.

Sheriff Moon said that a deputy will be guarding the packages all night.

I didn't get my USPS mail Wed till 8:30 p.m. ! Waiting on a robe I had ordered had about gave up. Pitch dark finally the girl came to front door I said "did U have a flat tire"? she said "No, Amazon is running late".

What's Amazon got to do with just plain daily USPS mail  ?

Guess I'm missing something here is our regular letters and stuff held hostage by what Amazon and people's packages do.

@SharkE A lot of our Amazon stuff comes USPS now.  Who knew?

I think I have four knives in that pile.

Well I want to see the face of the person who did this!  The face and the cuffs on them.

Why would they do this? Was the stress from trying to deliver so many packages under allocated time constraints too much? Or were they just vindictive? One scanned package will tell them who last had it in their possession.

Whoever did this was a complete idiot for doing it and for thinking he could get away with it.

and getting paid good wages and benefits. Give his or her job to somebody who can handle it. Hope they get punishment just not a slap on the wrist and say "now don't you do that any more".

Dumping packages and mail has been going on for years and years -  but given the super fast increase in virtual buying,  even more drivers seem to be tossing more of what they are paid to deliver.

In my area, the problems cut across almost all the delivery services -- Ironically for this board, the one service I haven't heard the neighbors complain about has been the USPS.  Mail delivery often hppens after dark, but that has been true for at least a decade!
