Re: Fastest Way to Get a Thread Shutdown...

@sunshine45OPs have no control how a thread will play out.  Neither you or I or the OP are responsible for any post but those that we write ourselves.  Does this thread upset you?  I hope not.  Life's too short to take this stuff too seriously.

How about if they had bags under their eyes?

@LTT1

If you are referring to any host, I still contend that those who go on television KNOW their appearance will be critiqued.  It is part of the gig.  Even as a child I remember comments about local television news anchors.

And since hosts are a large part of QVC's business, I find it ridiculous that they cannot be commented on.

Re: Fastest Way to Get a Thread Shutdown...

If one really does want a thread to live on and it's a thread one ostensibly enjoys and hopes it will last, it seems counter productive to toss out bait of juvenile remarks with name calling at other posters putting the thread they enjoy in possible jeopardy. It is, though apparently an irresistible need that sits there waiting -- one hopes for the sake of the thread, unfulfilled.

I’ve seen posts deleted because it was deemed “unkind,” or “controversial.”  I felt sometimes there was just a healthy debate going on, which is often enjoyable to see two different sides. But then I’ve seen threads where several posters are just piling on someone. It’s been awful sometimes. And I kept waiting for a moderator to come along and take care of it. But they stood. Why?

Much of the time mods are reliant on readers reporting posts as inappropriate so if there are few or no reports a thread remains unless there is a software trigger that alerts the mods about inappropriate language or content.

Between moderating the numerous forums on this board and Facebook, as well as problem solving for customers, the mods can't read every post in every thread on every forum.

Many times it’s the ‘tone’ of the thread which gets it closed.

When I report, I try & identify the offending posts by #

and reason (‘baiting’, inappropriate’, etc).

Also...if the word ‘YOU’ is used, ‘it better be ‘I love you’ or

‘you are awesome’ ‘cuz...whenever ‘you’ is used in a written forum,

more often it’s a finger-poke-in-the-chest.

@Free2be

That's what gets me....a topic is going along with some good conversation and then some jump in not adding or commenting at all about the topic just making snide/snarky comments about the author.....same people....I dont understand WHY

TWOP, Television Without Pity, was the BEST!! Not one TV show was untouchable. It was “informative” 😉 and SO funny!  One I will NEVER forget, and laugh about to this day, was concerning an HSN vender, Esteban. The comment, “Hey, when did Zorro take up the guitar?!”😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
