That's the Tourism Commercial for 2018-2019. At first, Nebraskan's were confused and horrified by such an advertisement. However, it is clever and has become a national joke. It's working! Tourism is UP and it's winter.
Here is my take on Nebraska: My family, friends and neighbors have been so kind and helpful since 12/26/2018. I have only left my house once for the Ortho. Surgeon's appt. (and daily walks to the mailbox and short walks along the sidewalk). I've been so fortunate!
Yesterday the doorbell rang. A large sack was by the front door. Inside was a note scribbled on a paper napkin, "From your Secret Neighbors - Hope you are improving daily." (I know exactly which thoughtful neighbors left the package.)
Inside? A pint of Famous Dave's chili, a huge cinnamon roll and a salad! (The temperature in Lincoln was 18* yesterday.) Such a thoughtful food gift. Gotta love another Nebraskan!!
They had no idea I had a painful day and was flat in bed yesterday and all night. That chili hit the spot! And, I didn't have to fix anything to eat. Feeling very blessed. Pleased we returned to live in NEBRASKA!!

I'm so sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time of it, @BirkiLady. What wonderful, thoughtful support you've been getting from those around you. Here's hoping today is one of your better days, and that they are rapidly increasingly so here on out!
Love Nebraska and Nebraskans!

@BirkiLady You truly have some wonderful neighbors. That's exactly what a community is all about.

Nothing quite like great neighbors. We have them, too and I am so grateful for them. Hope you find yourself in less pain today. That's no picnic. Get well soon.

I, too, have wonderful neighbors on both sides of me. I have COPD and it's hard for me to do much that is physical. One mows my lawn all summer and helps with shoveling. My other neighbors shovel/snowblow when they are not working (flight attendants). A couple of years ago, they ripped out my old carpet when I needed new flooring so I wouldn't get charged for that and then after the new flooring was installed, they painted my living room, dining room and kitchen. I really don't know what I'd do without them. Blessings to you for a speedy recovery.

I, along with others here, hope you continue to improve but I fail to see this story with relation to the state of Nebraska. I see it that the OP's neighbors are outstanding citizens. But all this goodness happened because they live in Nebraska? There are good, decent, caring people all over this great nation, not just in Nebraska. JMO

@feline groovy. He hasn’t posted since 1/10. I thought of him yesterday as I hadn’t seen any posts from him lately. Hope everything is ok.
