Hello......it is so nice to read about your flying experiences.........I do get somewhat concerned about flying especially since the latest loss. There are brilliant people on these boards.........I hope to still be going in the summer.

Hi R & R - Did you change your plans??? I thought you were going in mid-April....

Flying doesn't bother me, just the hassle for security and getting to the airport hours ahead of time.
DH is a retired United captain.

I have never been so frightened in my life because the AP was right next to some mountains and the strip was very short. A/P is long gone. Anyone remember the Santa Susana A/P?
I had a picture but it was too big when posted. I give up on picture posting.....
My first experience in a small plane was when my then boyfriend flew over the San Fernando Valley and showed me where my house was...the view was magnificent. We took off and landed at the Van Nuys Airport. I had flown commercial several times and always hated flying and never thought I would go up on small plane but he took me flying quite often. One time going over the Gorman(sp) Pass the turbulence was so bad we rocked and rolled and I thought my life was over. The last time I was on a plane was 1984 when I flew from CA to FL to visit my family and have no plans to fly again.

Great story so happy you made it out safe and I understand about flying. I am not real comfortable flying this summer but it is that or drive.....I really don't want to be on the road driving alone........it would cost so much to rent a car to get there and hotel to stay the night and to me its just too far to drive alone I think around 12 hours for me driving if not more.

In this case you have no choice but to fly, a long trip both ways is not a good idea for a woman alone. How long does it take to get to Texas from where you live?
