R&R: You say that you wished you were still together and not divorced to a man who beat you? I don't understand, but it is not any of my business anyway.

LG: The laws finally changed because women finally banded together and stood up for themselves and FORCED the laws to change and to change society's attitude regarding domestic violence. About 6,000 years overdue, IMO. It took a lot of courage for you to leave your abusive husband, especially back in the 60's.

I left him in the late 70's..........but I left many times and would go back...........what I wish is that he would have never hit me and we could have had a long loving relationship. I loved him so very much at one time........my first love.........and he was everything to me..........I have a page on a BlogSpot and one day after not being on for two years he found it and said to me............Miss you Kitten............that is the name he called me..........such a shame it had to end so badly..........but he has a wife and children and I have my life.......divorce is such a shame. But I left in fear of my life............

I think of getting on those small planes as getting on a rickety old trolley car.

Actually they are much safer than the larger ones. The pilot is responsible for all the preflight checks and I have not known anyone willing to slack on the check of a plane they will be flying. A commercial plane is a different story and the scary tales (from first hand witnesses) who said so many mechanics did not do all the required maintenance required for each flight.

I will fly in a small plane any day but no thanks to commercial ones.

In the early 60's we sold a house in CA and the purchaser was a pilot who had a small bi-plane. He took each of us up for a flight around the valley. I have never been so frightened in my life because the AP was right next to some mountains and the strip was very short. A/P is long gone. Anyone remember the Santa Susana A/P?

I had a picture but it was too big when posted. I give up on picture posting.....

Oh, I wouldn't get on a commercial flight either . . . I do not fly. I've been on a plane three times in my life and I am OLD. I flew to Ohio for my brother's wedding, and I flew to Florida twice. That's it. I hated it all three times. My ears were plugged up for weeks and weeks afterwards. No thank you.

I've flown my whole life. I started at age five when I used to fly from Az to NJ to my grandparents every summer. Then I worked for two airlines and flew for work.

I used to love it until 9/11.

Now I hate it because of the security issues and complications that can arise along the way. Also, planes got more crowded. Everything associated with it has become more stressful.to me. Now I rarely fly.

My brother got his license at 16 and can fly as easily as driving a car. He's career military 25 years and has flown Hercules as well as 737s and smaller jets. He's been around the world many times and is always relaxed about it. I wish I was that way still...

Our SIL has a small two passenger plane and he flies he and DD around the Valley to see their kids, and I hate it. Usually I don't know until afterwards and that is because DD knows I worry.

I do not enjoy flying, then again I do not enjoy long car trips. Flying gets you from point A to point B quicker than any other mode of transportation. I will never limit myself to ground transportation. There are simply too many places to explore not within this continent.

I was a Flight Instructor for 10 years and, to me, flying is the safest, fastest and most beautiful way to get from one place to another.

I'll take the airways over the freeways any day!!
