I just cleaned the apps from my fb page, the contests, quizzes and surveys, that way my friends list and other personal information can't be used.

A few days ago I put in a grocery order through Peapod and within minutes I started getting offers in my email for insurance, roofing, solar panels, security cameras, pet food and so on. Coincidence?

I have been off of FB for 2 1/2 years and don't miss it at all - got tired of my acquaintances posting a play-by-play of their day - getting in the shower now", or "this is what I am eating for dinner"....

My husband's best friend is an FBI agent, and has never been on FB, and refuses to let his wife and kids go on.  Says everything on FB is easily accessible to anyone who wants it.

I will never quit FB

@JaneMarple- it's funny.  We all have our things that bother us and make us feel uncomfortable and that's ok.  I'm MUCH more concerned about using my debit card everywhere, anywhere really,  than I am using Facebook.

I stopped using my debit card totally and haven't missed it at all.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@DiAnnewrote:

I don't know why people are surprised.

@DiAnne

I'm not surprised at all.  I always knew the "social" sites would be a mixed bag.  The only one I use is FB and I think I'm going to put it on hold for a while.  I saw instructions this morning on NBC what to do if you have a lot of personal info and apps on your FB account.  It was very mind boggling to find that if you want to quit altogether, FB makes you fill out all kinds of forms before they "approve" it, and sometimes it takes months.

You can't call them . . . the best info you can get is on Google as to how to personally control the site, and that's very limited.  My beloved sister had an account and she will be gone seven years this August.  No one knows her username and password, so we can't delete it.  That's unacceptable to me.

As it is turning out, my feeling is it has become more of a detriment and even a danger than just a "fun" thing for college kids, which is how it started.  Life has changed since this obsession and it's going to get worse.  I could say a lot more that can't be said.

My opinion only, of course.

Although they have no security or privacy there is 14 detailed steps on how to delete your account.  They do NOT make it easy!

@Abrowneyegirl

Are you kidding?  I heard it said only a day or so ago that not only is he a multi-billionaire, but he is the "most powerful man in the world" and that includes everyone, presidents, dictators . . . everyone.
