@NanaLinda wrote:My favorite coverage of the parade is by RFDTV...they show every group, do NOT talk through the show except to describe the float, group or band and it's wonderful! Check it out next year...I promise you won't be disappointed!
@NanaLinda. I bet they show all the horses too.

@Marp wrote:@qualityshopper, Hallmark channel broadcasts the Rose parade in place of HGTV. Not the same but better than the broadcast channels.
Check out ktla.com/2019/01/01/watch-the-130th-rose-parade-presented-by-honda-a-new-years-tradition/
Can't post that as a live link because of side stories but they have video posted of what appears to be the entire parade split into segments.
Hands down KTLA has the very best coverage of the parade. (It’s our local channel here in the LA area.) They focus on every part of the parade; floats, bands, and equestrian segments. And they really educate the viewers. I hope it’s available online. If so, ENJOY😊

@NanaLinda--RFDTV sounds good, but unfortunately, I don't get it. Used to but changed my subscription. Might go back to it (I miss watching reruns of the Jimmy Dean Show).

Have lived all my life in the area and my dad had a business on the parade route, been to the parade in person more than 30 times..My high school frequently marches in the parade and my ex husband was a float builder...
That said, the networks have NEVER done a good job covering our Parade...Even to the point of (shudder) calling it the Rose BOWL Parade..(it is NOT!LOL!) Locally, we used to have Channel 11 and still have Channel 5 (KTLA which did a fabulous job, they learn about all the minutae and convey that to the viewer- Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards did this for decades, and none ever have done it better..
It makes me sad to think that the rest of the world does not get to see our magical Parade through knowledgable and experienced eyes anymore..Now, even I have to settle for seeing the B2 fly over my house...I wish you could ALL see it and smell it in person just once!!

Great story-Mom loved the parades. We would drive 300 miles plus, take time off work and when we were there Mom was so busy watching the parade would not spend much time or talk to us when the parade was on.

I think when you are with a child a parade is wonderous. Just the excitement my grandkids had waiting. They loved it. This may be corny, but small town parades are the best. With no money, they just have spirit. More than half the town is IN the parade and the other half watches!! The Brownie groups, chamber groups and the little kids that participate are priceless. When the parade ends with mayor and council in antique cars they lead everyone to the huge park, where they have free hotdogs, face painting and the police horses, and jumps! Lol. Home town is written all over! Oh boy, the grandkids always loved this day.

I was born in Pasadena, both my parents grew up in Pasadena, besides grandparents I had three great grandparents living there so that parade has always been part of my life. We moved to Seal Beach when I was in 3rd grade but still went back every year for the parade and then a picnic in my grandparents back yard. I now live near Seattle and the coverage is horrible. They don't show the whole parade and the coverage is never repeated. I tried NBC and ABC - then I just gave up. I sat on the curb many times in my youth and you could smell the parade coming. Many good memories.

@DiAnne yes, the memories!!!! Hey, my sister is in Vancouver BC, (not TOO far from you) and she is able to get the parade every year on KTLA somehow up there.. I know she watches the KTLA morning news too, cause she always knows my weather!!!..Wonder if you might get it too?
