We just shopped at the small Acme in Bronxville, NY.  The cashier said it had been crazy and there was one guy on the other line that must’ve had 10 containers of hand soap, 20 gallons of water several containers of milk and a case of toilet tissue I guess he’s expecting the zombie apocalypse. People are getting seriously scared by the media there has to be a level ground somewhere

Idiocy is endless! I am so glad that my area is normal. We went to our local Costco to stock up on booze and expected madness..... but no lines, everything on shelves!!!!

It is past time to quit blaming the media for the rush on stores.  People are told to stay home, well, they need supplies.  When too many people show up at the same time to buy supplies, people get anxious.

It is up to individials to check themselves if they are getting over saturated with the news or if they are over-buying or if they are acting hystrionic.

Media reporters are doing their job.  We need them but they aren't controlling anyone.  I just wish people would quit blaming media for just about everything.  It never used to be like that.  I don't need to ask what changed.

During these "crazy" times I'm glad that I buy those BOGOs even if I don't need them "just in case".

A few months ago they had BOGO:

Lysol spray

Clorox Wipes

Detergents

Soups

Tuna

TP

Peanut Butter

frozen vegs

Paper plates

napkins

soft soap refill

and other things I normally wouldn't use but for some reason I bought.

We could eat out of the pantry & freezer for months!  Today, I was at pool and heard someone saying their mom needed wipes & lysol.  I offered her some -- I only bought because my kitty box had a odor & after using Lysol/wipes the scent was gagging me.

I also took over a small bottle of hand soap.  I know this lady and she'd do it for me ...it's all about helping one another to get thru these "crazy" times🙂

No toilet paper anywhere.  I did happen to but a pair of Toilet paper roll earrings made from seed beads though.

Re: Empty Shelves :(

[ Edited ]

This whole thing is unreal. People hoarding and loading up on everything. Our stores here all had everything as of Tuesday(except sanitizer and some cleaning products) Fast forward to today. We stopped to check (didn't really need anything). Couldn't get over all the meat gone, soups, gone, almost everything gone except pet food, produce, and oh the vegan food (which my 2 older grandkids are vegan so they're happy their stores have lots of vegan food lol). I just stood there in shock at all the empty things!

And I used to work for a major supermarket chain and even in blizzards it wasn't near this bad! So now the one store here will be closing at nights to sanitize the entire store and reload shelves. It is my opinion they need to LIMIT items to so many to each!

Lastly- I understand people who don't all have money to shop regularly. BUT if people do why don't they shop weekly like we do? My whole life i went to the store weekly. Our freezer is always full, cabinets full, and YES we always have at least 6 rolls of toilet paper and toweling, and we keep cleaing products and hand santitizer on hand (when go to dr appts) and its just my husband and I.

I mean keep extra on hand people if money allows you to! I can see people may need perishable items but I cant believe all these people don't have extra food and supplies on hand. Common sense!

I'm wondering what prompted the mass rush to the stores was it Thursday? The long lines, buying for weeks supplies.

Did parents hear that schools would close, was it all the sports closings?

What memo did everyone get?

Then those of us that saw everyone thought, ok I guess we all are supposed to buy for weeks in case we all can't go out?

It wasn't like knowing when a hurricane would hit so what was it, just wondering?
