Some people have asked about this.  In New Mexico we have an extremely organized and proactive governor, a woman of course.  Yesterday she opened a drive-thru testing station in Albuquerque, open from 7am to 7pm.  Anyone can go there, be screened and if they meet certain criteria, a test kit will be used.  All this without getting out of their car and exposing other people.  The results are not instant; people will have to be notified later.

Delaware hospitals throughout the state started doing this on Friday.  A hospital in the northern part of the state did 1.000 tests yesterday.

I heard a few people that were tested talking about it yesterday and they said it was the most unpleasant thing they have experienced.  They said it was like the swab was shoved up into your brain.

A nasal swab, is how've they test, for regular flu, also.  
I've had that done. I don't remember it being especially 

unpleasant.

@CelticCrafter   I've heard this also.  It makes me wonder about the drive-in testing stations.  I doubt many of capable of inflicting this amount of self-pain.  The long swab goes to the top of your sinus cavity.  Who administers this test?

@CelticCrafter   I think there was a wee bit of exaggeration there.  It's just an ordinary swab of the nose.  I've had it for flu.  I guess those people haven't experienced much that's unpleasant.

There's a testing station set up here, too. But a person needs a doctor's order to go there. If you are w/o the order then you will be turned away.

They take a NP swab for testing. 'NP' stands for nasopharyngeal and they put all the way back to where your nasal passage meets your throat. It doesn't hurt. Just feels weird.

@SilleeMee    @phoenixbrd   @I think the operation is being run by employees of the state health department.  They screen by asking the questions a doctor would ask.  I can't believe the average physician has the time or patience to spend that much time on the phone.

@CelticCrafter Maybe it depends on who administers the test.  Last year I had two knee replacements and the hospital required having a nasal test for  before each surgery.  I was apprehensive because some years ago my DH had one done and he said they shoved the q-tip up into his brain lol.  Well maybe I was lucky - I don't know how far up  they went with me, didn't seem that far, but it was a non-issue.
