@sidsmom  yes there was a foreshock of 4.2 about an hour before.

alert app didn't work -  it registered the quake (big one) but didn't send out alert.  a 4.2 foreshock probably would not have concerned anyone -  they just notice it afterwards.

 

fire dept announcing trucks going to help Ridgecrest.  fires reported there.

I was born in So Cal and lived there for over 40 years - never had any warning for an earthquake also I never had any earthquake damage.  Not everyone is that lucky.

Could there be tsunami warnings later on?

Since it was so close to the ocean.....

it's an app, i think.  but things happen quickly - not sure a few seconds help much.

@sidsmom  no!   epicenter is  120 miles from LA (west) and another 10 - 20 to the coast.  

not near the coast.

I saw it live on the Big Brother live feeds. They got pretty excited. There were waves in the pool from it. Everything's back to normal in the BB house now though.
