Haven't had Dunkin Donuts in a looooong time.  Don't buy donuts at grocery store either.  Thought it would be a nice treat for my daughter who is already on her summer break and bored.  Picked out a 1/2 dozen donuts and it came to $8.06!  Won't be buying any more donuts.

I haven't had a DD in about 2 decades (and never had a Krispy Kreme).

One of my sisters moved away and the only thing she complained about was that Dunkin Donuts had a different kind of cream inside their cream filled donuts.

So every time someone visited her, they were ordered (lol) to bring a dozen of nothing but the cream filled donuts for her (on only her) to enjoy.

Once my father and I flew down in his little plane for a Sunday visit and when she saw us get out empty handed, she pointed us back to the main runway.  (She really was bummed the entire visit that we forgot to bring her donuts.)

We have the Krispy Kreme "factory" near us. We took the GDs to watch the donuts being placed on the conveyor belt, slide down to flip over into the fryer and finally make their way down to the icing "dripper". They squealed with excitement especially when a few donuts got caught and slid off the belt.

Before we left, they chose a few donuts with their favorite topping or filling.

Duncan is a once in a while treat for us. There is one just a few minutes away in a shopping center. We always get coupons with our Sunday paper. With coupon I get 6 for $5.Our favorites are toasted coconut, cinnamon & the old fashioned plain.
My favorite doughnut of all time since I was a kid is the Entennmans chocolate frosted one. I light up every time I eat one. When I was pregnant I had to have one every day!! These days though I rarely buy a box due to health & weight reasons.🍩🍩

I don't know of any food or drink items you can get for less than $1 these days.  And with tax?  Yeah, sounds right to me.

Re: Dunkin Donuts

[ Edited ]

I drive past a DD on my way to and from work everyday.  Pre-pandemic I could see the drive-thru line was sometimes long when I would go to work in the morning.  Once the pandemic hit, the line is unbelievable.  No matter what time of day I drive by, the line is wrapped around the entire parking lot and onto the road.  It got so bad they had to block off one of the entrances because the traffic was getting so backed up.

I don't even remember the last time I went to a DD.  I used to periodically get a honey bran raisin muffin but they quit carrying them.  I don't care for their coffee.

Oh, I remember their coffee.  It made me feel like I had soap bubbles in my throat.  I don't  know what it was about their coffee, but, no.  Just no.

The price of food has gone way up.....so I'm not surprised at the cost....  Donuts are a RARE treat for me....🍩

@Shanus Thank goodness I don't live near a Krispy Kream store or factory, as they are my favorites.  It would take the little will power I have left to not go every morning.

@mspatmac   I can easily pass desserts and sweets, but get me near the breads section in a bakery and I have no control. Lol
