@cherry wrote:@Shorty2U I have cut back so much ,it's a lot easier for me than for you.
We are even going to watch mass ,tonight on Tv ,because the church is always so crowded ,you must get there an hr before services, start to get a seat.
Do as much as you can ,to let others help. When you are in pain it's no fun
Cherry, a co worker once told me that Midnight Mass was moved to 8:30pm. Her parish priest was 80 and father didn't stay up that late, anymore!

When you hear about for 6 months of the year, it is bound to lose its glitter
I liked it more when the season started at Thanksgiving

It saddens me that anyone hates Christmas for whatever reasons. If we could all remember the true meaning and as I'm saying this I'm reminding myself.
We have a quiet, small celebration. Honestly, my close relatives drive me nuts so we don't travel!
Blessings to all of you.

Cherry, not to hijack but I wanted to say thank you for remembering me in your prayers in 2008. It was a scary time being out of work for so long.
The first thing I did when I found a job was give a gift to St. Solanus with gratitude. Your prayers meant much so thank you!

It's just us, but no, I can not hate Christmas, and I wish it lasted longer. I honor the memories of those who have passed, and my heart is full of the joy of the memories and the wonderful times we were blessed with.
I can't hate Christmas or wish it was over because it is the remembrance of Christ's birth. Beyond all else and the hassle and bustle or the sort of lonely quiet days, that's what it's all about. The good news outlasts anything else. I am fortunate to have so much to be thankful for.

Just to clarify I don't hate Christmas. I guess I'm sick of the work getting to it, and the work that goes into entertaining family?
If I were to have a perfect Christmas we would all go out ot eat and exchange gifts and let the mess to the restaurant. (lol). And then take in a good movie.
Anyway we had a nice Christmas Eve day with my family and although I'm hurting tonight pain wise, it was worth it because everyone enjoyed the food, the gifts and each others company.
Next is the in laws in the morning. Still looking forward to Monday to rest though lol.

I agree..... it is what you make it ! I have wonderful childhood Christmas memories. There are wonderful things I love about Christmas and it is up to oneself to keep
it special...... I love to bake some this time of year. I bring some greenery in,
decorate a small tree with vintage cards, go visit a few people that are alone.
I just don't go hogwild, nor do I pressure myself to think that I need to spend
money I don't have. It' is what comes from the heart that means the most.
I have changed my mindset about Christmas and that is all one needs to do
to enjoy it the way it should be enjoyed. With loved ones and with what is
in your heart.

I don't have any family, except a sister I don't interact with anymore because she is a miserable toxic person, that I celebrate with but do go to my SO's sister's events. While I would be happier staying home, it's always a fun time even with the sister's not always nice to each other. Even if I were by myself I would still decorate, bake and make myself a great Christmas meal and enjoy my dog's company. I do understand why some might not like Christmas though.

@violann wrote:I am wishing a small, sweet surprise to everyone who has lost or never had the the experience of the wonder of the Christmas holiday.
Perhaps a cardinal or blue jay jay will appear in your yard, or a branch from a tree will unexpectedly bloom, or you will hear from an old friend, or any small thing that will be
a "present" to you in some small special way.
My Christmas will be sweet in a totally absolutely never expected way, and I will appreciate the fact that I have memories of bleak holidays in my long history of Christmases past, but that THIS Christmas will have something quite wonderful in it, something I will be able to relate intensely to the REAL meaning of the Holiday.
If you are in pain, whatever the reason, keep in mind that someone, somewhere, is hoping that you will feel a little better not just for this Christmas but for every day forward.
