Re: Does anyone else feel this way (Christmas)

Awww...... it is hard to have family members gone, but remember they live

on in loving spirit always in your heart.

How so very nice of you to volunteer, and I could not agree more.  It is

a wonderful gratifying experience.   Loved your message, thank you for

sharing ~  you are so right ~

Now that I am old and tired ,I do not enjoy all the hoopla on Christmas Day either ,but I do have the spirit in my own quite way..Realisticly I would like to stay at home with my little dog ,it kills me to leave him alone all day.Last yr I was sick and did stay home.My family was not happy about that.

I have lost almost all my extended family members including my DH and Son,  and I guess along with age ,it makes the holiday a little sad for me

.

One of my daughters lives wayyyy across the country ,with 3 of my grandkids and 3great grands,so they are all missing too.

I really shouldn't complain because I have another daughter ,a son, daughter in law and 7 grandchildren here with me..

My advice to those that are really unhappy.lonely or feeling awful during the holidays is to volunteer somewhere. It does wonders for the soul and for other people. I always volunteered to come in on Christmas Day in the hospital ,so others that wanted to be home for Christmas could do so. I also volunteered in a soup kitchen and it was a wonderful place to be on a holiday.

I am Blessed to have a family to join with  later in the day but if you are totally alone ,volunteering  so that others can stay home with loved ones, is very good for the soul and a great way to get through the holidays

Peace to everyone!

Re: Does anyone elscce feel this way (Christmas)

How nice the memories you have created with your grandkids.....and that you decorate and make a toast to yourself, and do for yourself to make it special.  I hope there is a dog in the picture.   Our dogs fill that empty spot and make every day special to us.  I enjoyed reading your post ~  the other posters also have some great tips also..... this time of year is a good time to look outward to people in need.... Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas !

I hate  christmas. I have no family and its kinda lonely but at least I can shop only for myself

I have done a lot of that in the last month.  I decorate my house, I may be alone, but the festive look and warm  glow to my living room makes me feel better.  I brought some champagne and make a toast.  I have family and still get lonely.  All the grandkids I baked with, brought so much for, are too busy for me, not even a visit, a card, or a phone call. I still would do it all over again . Happy memories for me.

I will raise a toast to you at midnight.  MERRY CHRISTMAS. Do something nice for yourself.  I read scripture every morning before I start my day and believe it or not, I have a much better day.

Re: Does anyone else feel this way (Christmas)

Awww I am sorry to hear about your Father,  Daughter and Grandson ~  that is so hard.  Also that you do not see your family much........... I am glad to hear that you make

it special for you.  Perhaps inviting a friend in to watch a movie, have dinner

would be nice.  Start your own little tradition.  Or even go out with a friend.

Don't feel alone about feeling estranged from your family....... that happens with many

families.  It did with mine.  It happens in life sadly.  Wish them well in your Heart,

let them know you love them, it is all you can do.   Take care of you, and enjoy Christmas your own special way.  Sending you a Hug ~  Merry Christmas and take care ~

Just like Pook, I've loved Christmas. I'm alone all year. My father passed on the 23 rd many years ago and my daughter passed 8 years ago on the 30th along with my grandson and they're both buried together.

I'm ignored by my family and I live alone with my little fur daughter. I still decorate with small decor and play festive music and buy Christmas goodies and cook to eat. And the only once a year my family invites me over to exchange gifts is Christmas Eve.

So just like Pook said.....,,, I do
