Does it bother you when someone brings it to your attention that there is already a thread on the topic you posted? I always try to look and see if someone else has started a thread on something I want to say. I'll look on the whole page, but I'm don't scour the whole forum for it. Then someone will say there is already one started. Now if I had seen it I certainly wouldn't start another, but really what's the big deal? I also don't mind if a topic I started takes a different turn, some people do.I'm just trying to get along with everyone!

I'm with you.
Some people are a little too thrilled to call you on it, too. Don't you think? LOL!

I agree with you, Jordan! Another thing that drives me crazy is when you post in a catch-all category such as Community Chat, someone goes crazy that it's not in a specific category. Would the post mean something different in another category? I think not! I guess we could call these posters "the board police!"

No. Perhaps both pushed post at the same time....

There may be a thread on the same or similar topic, and it might be on the first or second page, but you would never know due to how - well, either how 'creative' or downright awkward the thread starter might be about titling their thread. Many posters do it deliberately to fly under moderator radar, some are just thoughtless as to whether people will have a clue what they're talking about, and some want to be deliberately mysterious just so people eill click on it.
IMO there's no issue with having similar threads. A group of posters on one thread may be those who aren't my favorites, or one thread can take a direction another won't. Room for all.

@Daisy wrote:I once had a poster start a thread about several topics I had started that she didn't approve of...they were too trivial for her and she was quite upset. Yet, she never started her own threads. She kept at me about it for months. What a B! She allegedly travels a lot, yet she seems to be here quite often. I'm thinking it's all made up.
IMO there is a very great deal posted to this forum that is all made up, from identities to scenarios to faux outrage.

It bothers me that so many people can be bothered by so many things that aren't bothersome.
Smile and continue on everyone ... that's the joy of life. I'll chat on both or all threads about the same subject. Maybe I'll learn something from both.

I pretty much don't start threads here, but it wouldn't bother me. I would hope that I did a search first and, knowing me, I'd be embarrassed if I started a thread that was already there.
The good thing, since June when they upgraded (or whatever) this new board is that I believe you can delete your thread if you started a duplicate. Another solution is that you can use the 'report' feature on your OP of the duplicate thread and ask the mods to combine it with the existing thread. I imagine they would do that for you.
Most boards will combine threads if there are duplicates but I've really not seen that here.

It bothers me when someone post a "little fact" and a "lot of fiction" like they are the only ones that know anything about that particular subject. They don't seem to know that google exists.
