And then there are are those who falsely imply that a poster has or has had another identity on the board. That's pretty mean in itself --- and just wrong. But i guess they get their joliies by thinking they are "smart" enough to see someone's "real" identity when all they do is make a fool out of themself for being wrong and a conspiracy theorist to boot.
I've been on a number of internet boards and there are always a few of those folks. I think of them as the ones with egg on their faces.

Sometimes they could be telling you in case you're not getting many responses because it is being discussed elsewhere, and you may want to join that conversation. I don't think it's always done for snarky reasons.

I recall the last time I did that, and I scanned the Community to see if anyone had already started a thread on that topic. I didn't notice the other thread because it had an obscure title that you couldn't tell what the thread was about by looking at the title, but sure enough it was about my topic. I apologized and posted that I would delete my thread if I could, but since I couldn't please post in the other thread. I felt bad because I felt like people may think I was trying to outdo the other posters, and that wasn't my intent at all. I also felt like I was careless by not really looking into that obscure thread, so I try to do better in the future.

And I have seen a couple of times when a poster will nicely say there is another thread on this that is pretty active and they will ask the poster to join them. Those aren't the ones I am talking about. But you brought up a very good point Van Sleepy because I wouldn't want those posters who are nice about it to get confused with the ones who were obviously just trying to point out a mistake.

She did bring up a good point I don't want anyone who had that intention when pointing out a second topic to think we were referring to them. Sometimes on here without tone, things can get miscontrued and taken the wrong way. I don't want that and I am glad we settled things last night because I have always enjoyed posting with you in the past.
