The thing is - in order for any diamond to be any color it can't be pure carbon - and pure carbon is what makes a beautiful all white flawless diamond. There HAVE TO be other minerals in the carbon in order for it to have color. The very definition of a diamond is that it is All carbon.
But what I have against brown diamonds isn't their quality or value - I just have never seen one I found attractive. I am also not a fan of smoky quartz.

No, I personally don't care for brown diamonds. As the op remarked, I can't get over their industrial use. My dh snorts every time he sees an ad for them, because they were used in the factory where he worked. I do have a nice smoky quartz ring, that's good enough for me.I like diamonds to be white. The blues and yellows are pretty, but I feel like you'd have to tell people that they're diamonds. I've seen some gorgeous other stones in those same color ranges.

I have the one on the right. It is my favorite ring. I got it at Kays Jeweler, it was $1200. Its very petite, but very sparkly. I love the rose gold, the middle chocolate diamond is surrounded by white diamonds, that really set it off.
Im hoping at some point to get the matchinh eternity band also. I get many compliments on it.
