I guess it is not lumpy as much as flatten on the back of my head. I guess as my head was forming (stiff soft) i slept on my back. I know when my niece and nephew were born, my parents told my sister to rub or massage the head to round it out.

Like a Thomas' English muffin, I have nooks and crannies.

Uhm smooth I guess. lol. I have my hair short, but I have a good head of hair (as my hair stylist says), its thick.
About bald men, I prefer men with hair. Now I wouldnt leave my DH if he went bald (of course!), which I doubt he will. Im glad my DH has thick curly salt and pepper hair (thanks to his mom!), and keeps it styled (not too short like most guys nowdays).

FYI: Now they're coming out with a bagel with nooks and crannies. I'm intrigued.

My mother was obsessed when my siblings and I were infants. She was stationed at our cribs, turning us like rotisserie chickens. God forbid our heads would be flat.
As far back as I can remember we'd be out in public and she'd spot a baby with a flat head. Somehow she equated flat heads to lazy mothers. I equated my round head to being a rotisserie chicken.
