I keep thinking that someday I'll replace mine and then after I look at the prices I decide mine still look pretty darn good. LOL Your son did get lucky! Good Luck on your search.

Once again, he picked up a service for 8 (16 pcs). Gosh, I've got to get with the times.{#emotions_dlg.blush}

16 pcs. is only a service for four. Most services have a dinner plate, dessert plate, mug and bowl. A service for eight would be 32 pcs. without serving bowls, platters, etc.

Is Corelle light weight? For everyday dinners I used Fiestaware or Polish stoneware.

Can someone tell me if lifting four plates of Corelle would be a lot lighter weight than lifting four Fiestaware plates?

Corelle is very lightweight. I have trouble hefting my fiesta plates:/

Four plates of Corelle = 1 plate Fiesta. I think.

Thank you, both!

Lupus attacks hands quite often, and I noticed about a week ago that lifting down the Fiestaware plates was not comfortable. I worried I might drop them.

I thought about getting a nice set of Melamine but would rather get something more durable.

Hi Noel

I have Corelle have for a little over 30 years. No problem and I've never regretted collecting the various pieces that have been made through the years. Yes, it is lighter than FiestaWare. Stores a bit more cozy too! Take care. Smile

Third time's a charm. Thanks. I stand corrected. Yes, $10 - a steal for 32 pcs of dinnerware - not bad!!!

Corelle is lightweight. My set is square shaped and very thin/compact. I love them.

Another idea is to check out restaurant supply stores. There are a couple in SF that cater to Chinese restaurants and they carry really nice stuff!

I bought plates and bowls there at low prices. Blue and white stoneware with an embossed cherry blossom design . They also carry plain white. It's a good place to go if you want to have a lot of dishes for entertaining.

I love mine too. I also like to add patterned pieces from Pier One and Target with it.
