Re: Dinnerware Is So Expensive!

I love dinnerware! I have probably eleven different sets, two fine china, four different sets of white, a couple of stoneware sets, a square set, a black set, and a Christmas set. I guess you could say I am a collector. I have always loved dishes. I have to start downsizing soon, so don't know what I will do with all my beautiful dish sets.

You make me feel like we should start a support group! I'm always a little hesitant to say I own as least 3 Corelle patterns, 3 different Pfaltzgraff patterns, several vintage 50's patterns, the old Currier and Ives blue pattern, and a couple of Temp-tation patterns.

I love dishes and bakeware like other women like shoes! Glad to know I'm not alone.

Re: Dinnerware Is So Expensive!

When I visited family in Germany, I was surprised to see them use a different set for each meal. The breakfast set was decorated with strawberries...lunch had flowers and dinner was fine china.

I use different sets now for different meals too.

Good to hear! The only problem is, I have the same problem with shoes! lol I love Pfaltzgraff, though sadly I don't have any. Yet lol. I had the old Currier and Ives, it was my Mother's. I passed it down to my oldest son. I love it, it is so pretty and holds so many memories for me. My three sons have never had to buy dinnerware, they just get it from me.

Re: Dinnerware Is So Expensive!

Is Corelle light weight? For everyday dinners I used Fiestaware or Polish stoneware.

Can someone tell me if lifting four plates of Corelle would be a lot lighter weight than lifting four Fiestaware plates?

Corelle is very lightweight. I have trouble hefting my fiesta plates:/

Four plates of Corelle = 1 plate Fiesta. I think.

Thank you, both!

Lupus attacks hands quite often, and I noticed about a week ago that lifting down the Fiestaware plates was not comfortable. I worried I might drop them.

I thought about getting a nice set of Melamine but would rather get something more durable.

Re: Dinnerware Is So Expensive!

They have very nice white porcelain dishes at the Dollar Tree. They have all the pieces to make a set so 4 place settings of a mug, bowl, dessert and dinner plate would only cost $16.
