It got blown out of proportion because someone decided that Sandra's comment was r-cist.

I find it sad...

What is truly sad is that there is still so much racism in this country that people *do* react this way. If we didn't have a racism problem, there wouldn't have been a knee-jerk reaction like this.

I don't believe there was any insult intended at all. But, as long as we have a racism problem in this country, this will happen - and sometimes it really is racism rearing its ugly head.

But, not this time.

It's my understanding the video has been removed and what Gato posted is what is out there now.

Also, for people to claim the model's face "says it all" is ridiculous and an out and out lie to do nothing more than cause more problems.

Sandra said she was so upset about this she called the model, Michelle and Michelle didn't remember the comment or know any of this was going on.

It's all ridiculous. Sandra was called by someone and probably told to apologize. She did and this should be over. Now I half wish she'd tell people they can either accept her apology or not but enough already...get over it.

However, making a huge deal out of something as ridiculous as this does NOTHING to improve relations. They should find something real to create a mountain of.

What's sad is people looking for something to be offended by.

Amen, I watched that video 2x to see if I could see the distress that has been reported that the model showed...nada. Ridiculous.

Sandra has an adopted daughter that is of a different race than Sandra. I would bet with my heart that Sandra is NOT a racist as people are saying. This whole thing is ridiculous. I don't watch QVC anymore but when I did I found Sandra to be very personable about what she says and does. I think people are becoming way too sensitive about what they see and hear when there is nothing to complain about. It's almost like taking a scab off a wound just to start bleeding all over again.

^ I was going to post this exact, same thing! Why in the world would or could anyone think Sandra Bennett is a racist when her own adopted daughter is a different race than she is?

I don't believe it for a minute.

ETA, I just watched the video. This entire kerfluffle is ridiculous!

We will always have a r-cism issue in this country. But something like this does nothing for improving the situation at all.

If somebody has truly experienced real r-cism, they should feel sick to their stomach about this. Sandra is the victim here.

This is a classic case of people making something where there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! Sandra was simply trying to sell a product and telling consumers even if your hair is a mess, you will still look pulled together when you carry a D&B. HOw is she in control of the camera man panning to the model? People need to get a life.

You and I finally agree ... yea!Smile The whole thing is ridiculous ... I didn't see the show or video, but people should stop and think ... who gets worked up over a style the model obviously embraces ... it's actually a badge of distinction and celebration in the African American community.

I'm sure Sandra had no thought about Michelle's hair ... that it never entered her head ... Why on earth would it?

But Sandra wasn't even referring to any model when she made the statement. She was talking about women in general. That's what makes this whole thing even more ridiculous.

ITA Brii! And I think the model and QVC need to SAY something to put this right since it's gone viral.
