I had problems posting.

But DD worked & I keep the toddler, no time for Gigi when the toddler is here.

I also have tornado fatigue, spent all day hunkered down Thursday, the closest tornado was about 6 miles away.   It was dicey for a short while but my property was never damaged.

I love YouTube.    It has become my go to for minor repairs as well as entertainment.   And sometimes those repair videos are entertainment, LOL

Oh wow! I guess that is a good idea to put in pots isn't it?

I remember when we had a townhouse always wondering when the flowers would be ok to plant or be safe from a freeze. Sometimes I would even see not til May!

Sometimes there would be snow in April! So hard to wait and to know.

@on the bay

My grandmother always said not to plant your flowers until the Monday after Easter.  I have tried to follow her advice and have found that works great for me.  When I was butt-headed and did not pay attention to her, I lost a load of roses, about $300 in young roses.  I lost other plants as well but that was when I could buy roses for $25.

That's the day I put my hummingbird feeders out too!

I remember when there were just a handful of forums.  The only one I followed was Beauty Banter and it moved so fast, I couldn't keep up.  By the time I read one short thread, 10 new threads appeared.  And they were all interesting to me.  These days, new threads are far and few between and most don't interest me.  I think it's me and not the forums.

Also, for me, navigation is sometimes difficult here.  Some days I have to log in over and over just to read threads -- and I won't do that anymore.  Yesterday I couldn't "heart" any posts. When the website isn't working for me, I just leave.

@Kachina624

I can only speak for myself, but here is what I have been experiencing.

It is like being stuck in quicksand, and when I try to get ahead, I end up two steps backward.  My schedule has changed at least five times this year as the school system analyzes data, listens to "some" groups, starts over and then adds additional work.  I have tried to schedule appointments around the ever changing schedule so that I don't miss classes because we don't have subs and I don't want my co-workers to have to sub for me.  I have one of the CDC conditions that has allowed me to remain virtual until the end of the year, but that is subject to change.  This accommodation request is a battle that I have been fighting since September.

I spend about 15 hours each weekend getting the lessons ready for the upcoming week because we are busy teaching and  in meetings throughout the school day and there is not enough time to plan AND keep in touch with the students and the many comments, emails, texts, etc. in Google Classroom.  My district flaked on the curriculum, so we are having to find appropriate resources and make them accessible to students.  For example, when we were in person, I might have given my students an article to read so I would photocopy it and then they could mark the text.  Now that same article might come from a website that is blocked, but I don't know that until I give them the link to the site and then it depends on if they are on a school issued device and if they are at school or at home.  They cannot be exposed to ads, so on YouTube, I have to convert any videos, download them, upload them back to Google Drive, and generate links that they can open.  I spend so much time on this formatting, like making the site a PDF, then converting it to an image, then uploading it as the background of a Google Slide or a Jamboard so that students can mark it up as they read.

On Sundays, I work on a "newsletter" that all department chairs are required to publish for their department.  I attended the leadership meeting on Thursday and took notes, and then I do this on Sundays so that I can have it ready to read on Monday morning when it is "due."

Despite extending "grace and compassion" to students, such that they can turn in any late work without penalty, there is no such grace and compassion for teachers.  The focus is on getting students to passing, so if a student suddenly decided to complete work from the first semester, they would put pressure on me to grade it all and change the grade.  Some students will turn in four weeks of work at one time, so the nonstop cycle of grading and entering grades never ends.  Twice a week the leadership team gets grade bulletins so that we can have coaching conversations with our teachers about the number of failures.  Today I am debating about spending half the day grading so that I can contact parents tomorrow, but of course they could turn in the missing work today and then the reports that I would prepare today would be outdated tomorrow.  We cannot assign a failing grade for the quarter without making three contacts with guardians, and if the grades don't come up to passing we have to fill out a form for each student who has earned a failure.

When I take a "break" and pop over here on Saturday mornings for AMS, it is good to "see" everyone, but I really don't have time to read snarky posts.  When I take time to find a photo of decor or fashion to help spark discussion, I get tired of seeing the one word answers- NOPE, UGLY, NEVER, etc.

That is all.

@Kachina624  I was not really busy today but any thing that sparks interest is poofed or closed for commenting, it gets old.

and my day was uneventful....cool and overcast, so outside work is on hold until it warms up a tad.    Maybe Sunday will be a more interesting day.  I can't wait to go back to work on Monday!!

@Mom2Dogs    I so agree.  Get sick of writing a thoughtful comment to a post, then after I've spent time on it, I enter it only to discover it's gone.  The reasons seem so arbitrary, because it MIGHT be argumentative or could be deemed political, etc., etc.  What's wrong with a civil argument?  We used to call them discussions.

I guess the mods will be elated when we're all gone and they can do CS full time.

I think there's two types of people who are on these forums - those who want to opine and those who want to chat.  I am of the opine group but I see that lots of people just like to chat.  These two groups get mixed up into one forum and it is distracting but both types of people deserve being heard.  It's just a problem here and some people get angry over it or sidetrack the forum onto another subject.

You make an excellent point about this Forum

  JMHO but I think people are tired of all these virus threads.   And the same people instead of adding to a thread they already just started on the virus and/or vaccinations start another brand new thread on the topic. The Forums are just bombarded and it makes finding some fresh conversation difficult and is a turn off for many folks Woman Frustrated And the "just change the channel posts" have become tedious....

Yesterday we drove to a town called Castroville known for their red poppies.   So nice and surprising the wild flowers survived.  A delightful day Woman Very Happy It was actually 87 here too warm too soon but a cool front is on it's way and we will be back in the upper 60's and 70's...

I have become uncomfortable with how one's political views are brought into many threads.  This is not to say that it should not happen, only that I tend to pass on such threads.  I don't have strong opinions or affiliations where politics is concerned, so I leave the posting for those who do.

@deepwaterdotter

It's sad when a thread is ruined because someone takes it into the political realm which is a forbidden topic and the thread is poofed...Or someone posts feedback about QVC and the Q die hard fans criticize .. ...wished they just skip the threads they don't like

Something new to me. Has anyone realized that the box that holds your notifications is on the right hand side under the word Notification?

Please don't tell it it was always there lol. From what I remember it was between your forum name and notification.

Yeah, they changed that I see.

Few in here that I don't like and they usually crop up when I post, so, just stay where I know they won't show up.

Besides when you get all women in any boards, it's gonna go downhill

When I used to be a hairdresser I had the owner of the shop tell me she'd rather run a prison then an all women beauty shop.   LOL

(this was in the olden days LOL men wouldn't think of working or going to a beauty shop) My husband would never go to 1 even today ) LOL

"I think people are tired of all the virus threads. "

Do ya think?   Not to mention they almost always turn contentious & political and get shut down.   Also, and know I'll be attacked for saying this, but does a new thread need to be started every time someone or any and all people in their family gets the vaccine?  Seems a new thread is started to say  "Hubby got his shot, my Aunt Mary got hers, my 3 cousins got theirs last Tuesday".....and on and on.

If it weren't for my interest in the fashion forum, I don't think I would bother anymore. Like @lolakimono  said, that forum can get snarky too. Would miss interacting with people I do enjoy.

There are a few people and things that I just don't want to deal with, literally bad for my mental health. I have work, yard work, reading, other things to keep me busy. Tired of the snark, nastiness, and other repetitive things.
