That could definitely be it!

For myself, I'm sick of hearing about the virus and the vaccines.

After the Texas freeze, I lost all my plants. Today I was redoing my corners but I put everything in pots so if it ever happens again, I can move them into the house.

I had helpers, Tomorrow I will add mulch.

I live in Texas too....and I moved my container plants into my store room and they survived the artic blast...but SADLY when it warmed up and I put them back on the patio they died since there was no water available and that's what killed them....😥

Love your plants---looks like you are off to a great start....HAPPY GARDENING!

@Lilysmom1    Canada continues to receive praise on the news here for her handling of the Covid situation.    Arizona has lifted ALL restrictions, but I will continue with the mask, distancing, etc.    I didn't live this long to start being "foolish"......

Weather here......90's by the end of this week.   (It's either hot or cold....no in-between).

Happy Gardening!    di

I prefer the controversial topics not be here.  There are posters who continually slide their politically slanted opinions into various threads....like we are all stupid and won't notice?  I find it hard to bite my tongue, so I am always glad if that kind of thread gets shut down.

I come to the forums because I enjoy reading about the items people have bought, decorating, fashion and makeup tips, and heads-up on good deals for shoppers, at QVC and other retailers.

I enjoy reading recipes people share, and have used many.  I really like the decluttering thread, as it inspires me to keep working at clearing unneeded excess from my space.

I find some of the "What would you do if...." threads interesting.  Kind of like reading Ann Landers columns, but with a bunch of different answers.

I can't have a pet now, but I enjoy reading about posters' furbabies and seeing their pictures.  I like how posters are kind and supportive when someone is facing an illness or death in their family.

If I want to discuss religion or politics I have friends and family a phone call away.  I have Facebook friends with varied opinions....these are people I actually DO know personally....and I get differing perspectives from those venues.  And sometimes those conversations get tense and emotionally-charged.

I don't come here to get tense....I want to just enjoy light entertainment.

So I don't really feel the boards are dead.  I am glad for the moderation.

Well said!  And I have learned a lot and found a lot of tips. For example, in Electronics @Kachina624 helped save me some money on my Tracfone renewal, always learning something new there..... And love reading the Home Category with thoughts and opinions of different decorating design styles....In the Holiday Topic folks post photos of their different holiday decor....and of course we have fun in the NFL Topic under Sports...although our teams may be rivals we get along just fine....and have fun!  We dont need controversial topics...there are plenty of other places to give opinions on politics, ....

@Nonametoday  I know exactly of what (and of whom...) you speak and I'd also note the personification of the second coming is far from their only 'mission'...

After a year of lecturing, scolding and name calling by a small group of posters who are obssesed with a particular subject, and who have sadly been allowed to get away with virtually taking over the boards,  I'm surprised that there is even the amount of participation here that there is. I suppose that they've done many like me a favor though. We've moved on to other more fulfilling, interesting and intellectually stimulating pursuits.

@FrostyBabe1  A true factor and yet some of us are labeled as obsessive about other things, which we are, of course, not really permitted to discuss...

Those poppies and bluebonnets are just gorgeous, @Spurt !   And what a charming cottage with flowers.  Castroville, which I have heard of, must be wonderful.

Unfortunately, the "Community Chat" forum, in my opinion, has become, in recent times, more a place where personal attacks seem to accrue.  Those who enjoy healthy discussion don't like that, so it's not surprising when they become scarce, and the forum is left more to the offenders.

I'm encouraged whenever the former show up, and make their views known in a way that abides by simple rules of civil discourse.

I enjoy a spirited discussion. I'd rather be tense than bored. I'm an adult; I can take a bit of snark, sometimes it's plenty amusing.

I'm actually glad the political topics are not allowed anymore.  In the "old" day-some of the posts would have set the mods hair on fire if they were around at that time.Woman SurprisedWoman LOL

I will say that the COVID and vaccine threads are tedious.  For a year it's been the same posts over and over and over again.

What I really do not like are the happy threads about the Royals-and along will come ONE particular person to start in about H&M and *POOF*!  There goes the thread.  Off topic is one thing but it destroys a thread that is uplifting during sad times.

I think the overkill with certain topics and (this post will disintergrate in 3-2-1) the uneven moderation makes it difficult to dialogue sometimes.
