QVC you won’t be my shopping channel anymore. I have been a customer for over 20 years. You make a bad choice with Carolyn Gracie and Dan being let go. They were the very best of hosts on air. That was a terrible decision!

The CEO of a large multinational corporation should go on air to explain why 2 employees were terminated?

Right.  I can't believe the ongoing naivete.

The reason is simple: expense reduction.   Align costs with revenue.

Big mistake-this will just ****** off their core audience-the young and hip are following their instagram influencers and not going to shop on QVC no matter how many new hosts they get

Time will tell if Dan and Carolyn being shown the door will have any long lasting negative impact on sales. I agree with others who brought up that QVC wants us to look at the hosts as friends. Shopping and drinking wine with your girlfriends, seeing them on social media, extra videos and interviews, etc. Then QVC pulls the best hosts off the air and does not expect a big reaction? Can’t have it both ways QVC. Sure people get fired everyday, but not people who are essentially in your home via the TV.

But some posters did not consider the recently departed hosts to be the "best."

To some, including me, the departures were essentially a non-event, and I continue to watch and shop.

I see that poor Carolyn is also gone. I would love to know what the critieria is for the decisions. i saw first thing that the parent company of QVC was getting rid of 400 people. But I was thinking warehouse people and such, not long time hosts.  Makes me sad.

I can understand having to downsize. It's happening at Amazon and other big entities as economics changes the landscape. However, Q is hiring mediocre new people who haven't been there very long at all; yet, they get rid of the stalwarts. And then there's the quality of presentations of certain ones who get to stay. Not professional, not even watchable at times. Mostly I go online if I want to order anything. I get very impatient with all the fooling around on set. I don't want to watch people trying to outdo one another in attention getting. Goodbye, Carolyn and Dan. You both gave it your all.

Forgot to add that I wonder if they pay the new ones much much less and that they are getting rid of the highest paid ones for that reason.

Only warehouse employees should be subject to the layoff axe and not the on-air talent?

Wow.  That smacks of elitism.

Good for Qurate for including all pay grade levels in its headcount reduction.

I no longer bother to watch QVC 'cause I find all these new hosts to be generic-bland-boring specimens. They lost a lot of customers over age 40. SAD.

Wait till  you too grow older. AGE is not a disability for working. Dan Hughes was a relaxing to listen to, informed, great show host. He will be missed.
